Vocational Traning -is the Education, theme of Vocational Education Week at Kearns high, Feb. Demonstrations and exhibits from all the schools vocational classes will be set up in the main hall and y open house held in all vocational classes so that students, parents and members of the community may see what is offered and what can be achieved, said COPE director Elaine Burrows. Each vocational area has been assigned in addition a specific day on which to display their expertise, she explained. Speakers are all being invited to make their presentations on the day the appropriate department is featured, said Mrs. Burrows. We want parents and people from the community to feel welcome to visit any and all of our vocational classes during the week. Our purpose is to acquaint the public, parents and students with the many and varied opportunities available within the school, and to make students aware of the many opportunities in careers associated with the vocational offerings, Mrs. Burrows said. Classes and teachers will also be invited to view the many exhibits during the week, she said. We are tying our activities in with National Vocational Week, as proclaimed by President Reagan, and with Utah Vocational Week, as proclaimed by Governor Bangerter. We hope everyone will take the opportunity to visit the school during the week and see just how important vocational education is, she in- ex- hibits and demonstrations from all classes, including woods, graphics, auto mechanics, auto body, welding, machine shop, elecronics and drafting. Included will be of T shirts for students by the graphics class, and machine shop students will etch names of students in metal or plastic. The Kearns high television production classes will offer MTV all day on sets along the main hall. A remote control camera will video students in the hall so they can see themselves. Demonstrations of how the news on Kearns channel 3 (KHS) is programmed will also be given. brown-baggA presentation will be offered each day during lunch periods in the activity room. Students may bring sack lunches to the presentatiosn and eat as they listen to speakers associated with the various departments of the school.
