Gamboa, son of John and Sharon Gamboa, of West Jordan, has accepted a call to serve an LDS mission in Sacramento, California. is another sure- mans poison, and most ly never more so than when it tomes to garbage. A farewell meeting will be held at the West Jordan 22nd ward, 6500 Dixie Drive on Feb. 9th at 2:30 in the afternoon. Ethel Bradford My two sons taught me that when they were growing sprouts. During their elementary school days I would cringe, inwardly and outwardly, at the arms full of good stuff they hauled home. Why, on garbage days they would fight to get out of the house early on their way to school, so they could get first pick of the piles of garbage out in front of peoples homes. And, if youre easily amused as I am you'll get a kick out of it. if I Audrey Boone To Fill LDS Mission This is how it goes. Last fall I had two clothes hampers, a large storm window, a beat up lawn mower and a large cylindrical can with a tight lid. Garbage, you say and I quite agree, because I no longer needed any of it. But . . . before long the lawn mower quietly found its way up the sidewalk, pushed by two young lads. (About the same age mine were when they were collectors.) And I only hoped their Dad was handy with the pliers and wrenches. Todays patio, garage or yard sale are the same thing in a bit more sophisticated style. All right,. I can hear dozens of women (and men) saying, This stuff is not good to me any longer, but is too good to throw away. (TGTTA) And . . . certain that someone else will use it, a patio, garage or yard sale is born. Its all the same thing. A white hamper lasted an hour or so and the green one (I suppose green isnt popular this year) lasted until the next day. I find that much of the TGTTA items disappear after dark. Perhaps theres a feeling of guilt or embarass-men- t when one liberates junk, but there neednt be. Thats what its out there for. And in apology to my two sons, I now must admit that I am a goner for yard sales. My car automatically swerves to the curb whenever one of those signs hoves into view. There are countless necessary (well, we once thought so) items that accumulate with the raising of a family that soon become outgrown, unneeded or simply tired of after a year or so. And so ... as they are TGTTA, we store them. The event will be hosted by his family, and friends are being invited to call between 3 and 5 p.m. at the Senior Citizen Center, 8952 West 2700 South, Magna, Utah. The future missionary will be further honored at an open house at the home of his parents, 3669 Pensacola Cir. from 6 to 8 p.m. on the same day as his farewell. Actually no, but let me tell you, it goes. It often is gone before noon on Saturday, a few things last until nightfall, but so help me, on Monday, theres nothing but the routine No fooling. The kids were organized, and the good stuff collected would be taken to a pals home to store till school was out and then they would divvy up the loot. I was sure I was the only dumb mother who gave haven to such things, but I later found that we were all in the same boat. Edward Doyle Carter will be honored at an open house on Feb. 15, 1986 to celebrate his 80th birthday. Audrey Boone will be honored at a farewell on February 9, prior to leaving for an LDS mission to Seattle, Washington. My pickup day is Monday, but . . . most of my TGTTA stuff I put out on Saturday mom. Jordan. South, West Later that evening a young man came to my door and asked if the storm window was garbage and when I said yes he was only too ready to in a trice the window take it away. And so was gone. He was happy and so was I. When I got home that evening everything was gone and I hope to someone who can use the TGTTA stuff. I in the West 2700 W. 7000 The event will be held 1 BYU. And so, if you pass my way and see some odd object sitting by my mailbox . . . and you want it . . . take it. Its my own brand of patio sale . . . only I call it my mail box giveaway. Why, you might ask? Do I like to see my mail box flanked by discarded chairs? Hampers? Storm windows? Old air conditioners?
