She read it only once. It was confusing, so she guessed and crossed out the letter a. The correct answer was 0. Mary is a poor problem solver who did badly on the exam. She skipped o verTmp ed at answers and failed to check her answers. Mary needs to improve her critical thinking skills - and she can. Critical thinking is simply the ability to carry on an internal, silent dialogue when reading or listening to something. It is raising questions, breaking up a complex idea into smaller pieces, drawing on prior knowledge, converting complicated ideas into examples. These skills can be taught. It was nice to have another three-da- y weekend even though we returned to school less than a month ago. . We will also be out of school next Monday because of career ladder day for the teachers. Students always enjoy the end of the term because that means an extra day of resting up from the week before. Tuesday will begin the new semester which also means that Mr. ' Grieners new tardy policy will go into effect. Lancers should be prepared to be on time to classes or else pay the consequences. This new policy will be rather difficult for some students to adjust to, but after a while, it should benefit everyone. This afternoon (Thursday) at 3:30 there is a girls basketball game against Olympus. There is also a wrestling meet tonight at 7:30 against Cyprus. Good luck to these two teams. Tomorrow night there is a basketball game against Cyprus at 7:30. This should be a very exciting event, so come and support the basketball team. Good luck, guys.
