Cyprus fresh from a taste highs Pirates, of tournament play, will host the seventh annual Green Sheet Classic tonight (Thursday) and Saturday. The Pirates competed in the Box Elder Tournament, bringing home the consolation trophy with a victory over Granger. The two could meet again Saturday night. The home court advantage plus the veteran nature of the team makes the Pirates the favorite for the Classic title. Action begins tonight with a rematch of last years finalists Granger and Taylorsville. The Warriors won the tournament d on a shot by Jonny Walker. The two will meet at 6 p.m. The 8 p.m. contest will pit Kearns against Cyprus. The lone Cougar victory in three starts also came against Granger. The consolation contest will be played Saturday at 6, with the title game to follow at 8 p.m. Coach Mark Wilson felt good about his teams effort at Box Elder. Taylorsville began playing with confidence and by the half had increased its lead to 4 behind the strong inside play off Toff Mitchell and Dave Houtz. When the Warriors encountered foul troubles, Murray roared back with John Cooper and Tim Nevenner fueling the effort with clutch 16-1- The next action for the Warriors will be tonight (Thursday) in the Green Sheet Classic at Cyprus high. The Warriors will meet a Granger team that has one win in four starts. The two teams were tournament finalists last year with the Warriors winning on a late shot by Jonny Walker. The winner of tonights contest will meet the winner of a Kearns-Cypru- s matchup for the title at 8 p.m. Saturday. The consolation round will be played at 6. Warriors 62, 38-2- shooting from outside. The duo forced some turnovers and Murray was able to catch the Warriors by the end of the third period and took the lead early in the fourth period. It was a donnybrook from then on.
