Our girls tennis team will meet Skyline at Granger at 4:30 today, the Granger golf team will host Cyprus at 4:30 and cross country runners will be at Cyprus at 4 p.m. On Tuesday, the Granger volleyball team will host Cyprus at 4:30. Granger will be at Oly for tennis and our golf team will meet Skyline at 4. Homecoming is just a few short days away. This traditional event will begin on Monday and continue through Friday, Oct. 5. On Tuesday, nominees for Homecoming queen will attend the queens tea with their mothers. Colleen Bangerter will be the special guest speaker. At the end of the tea, Homecoming queen finalists will be announced. Wednesday will be the traditional parade down Lancer Way. It will begin at 6 p.m. at Market Street and continue west on Lancer Way. During the course of the day Friday, Granger history books and yearbooks will be on display and light refreshments furnished in the occupational foods room (124) across from the library. All alumni are welcome to attend this alumni tea at their convenience. The Homecoming assembly will begin toward the end of the school day. During the assembly, shield contest winners and hall decoration winners will be announced and cash prizes awarded. The Homecoming queen will also be announced. Later that day, the Granger Lancers will square off with the Olympus Titans at 4:30 p.m. Pre Bennion JHS Drive Liger Chase BENNION. The PTSA magazine drive at Bennion junior high will end tomorrow (Friday). Election fever is building with campaign banners and posters due tomorrow. A meeting for finalists will be held Oct. 3, followed by primary elections. Final posters and art work are due Oct. 5, and the election assembly, at which candidates will present their skits, will take place on Oct. 9. Final elections and announcement of winners will be held on Oct. 10. GRANGER. Both of these activities were successful and but the student body officers would like to apologize to all those who were offended by a scene in the movie Life of Brian. This scene was not appropriate for the festival and the SBOs are truly sorry. Friday was the culminating point of Homecoming week. I would , like to recognize Taylorsvilles concert choir and our music teacher, Mr. Wendel for the prestigious honor of representing five states at the Western Division Music Educators convention. Approximately 100 music students will travel to Fresno, Calif, in March to serenade an audience of close to 3,000 persons. Our choir was selected from numerous choirs in the valley and state, including many collegiate choirs, because of our outstanding reputation by the president and the board of Utah Music Educators. Although chosen from Utah, the invitation itself came from the president of the Western Division of Music Educators who resides in Hawaii. Hawaii is one of the five states the concert choir will be representing. The other four are California, Arizona, Nevada and, of course, Utah. Starting with an assembly at 9, the fall season teams will be presented, performing groups will march and alumni skits will be enacted. Following, the assembly an alumni tea will be served in the library. Many former THS students are expected to arrive from colleges they presently attend for this event. After school, football fans and players will be gearing up for a game against Hillcrest. The student body has great confidence in our team after last weeks bout with Kearns. To start off the week, the student body officers met at Granite at 1 a m. to G on Fifth paint the traditional East in front of Granite. The officers were dedicated and despite the rain, they finished the job. The queens assembly was held yesterday (Wednesday). Thirty-eigh- t clubs nominated senior girls to represent them. All of the girls did a great job.
