Show 3B THE GREEN SHEET 27, 1984 Thursday, September The Don Kennedys Mark Anniversary The children of George Donloe Don and Florence Elizabeth Christensen Kennedy will host an open house on October 1st to honor their parents on their Golden wedding anniversary. The open house will be held at the Douglas Ward, 721 So. 1200 East, from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. they request no gifts. Florence was raised in Price and graduated from Carbon high in 1929 as valedictorian. She then attended and graduated the University of Utah in 1933 with a degree in Education. She taught school at Carbon high. Don was raised in Springville, Utah, and graduated from Springville high in 1929. In 1933 he graduated from the UofUs school of business. He worked with his father in the pharmacy business while attending school and following his graduation. The two met each other while attending the UofU and were married October 1, 1934 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Their lives have been centered in the Salt Lake area for the past 49 years, and for the past 42 years have spent it in their present home. Don served in the U.S. Infantry during WWII in the Philippines. He became manager of Rocky Mtn. wholesale drugs, which later merged with Amfax, Inc., until his retirement in 1973. He was president of the National Mr. and Mrs. Russell K. Blair . i i Pharmaceutical Wholesalers Assoc, from where he had 1972-197- Don and Florence are the parents of three children: Colleen (Mrs. Ray) Goodwin, Midvale; Mary Ann 3 previously served on the board of directors. He also worked for Sorensen Research as a customer service supervisor until 1978. As a goodwill ambassador for the Chamber of Commerce, he was member of the Salt Shakers, and for many years he belonged the the Bleacher Utes. Florence has been an active member of the DUP for many years. In 1956 she served as the president of Utah Pharmaceutical Assn. Auxiliary, where she has been a member for over 40 years. She has served on the board of the Womens State Legislative Council and also the S.L. (Mrs. John) Adams, West Valley; and George, Littleton, Colorado. They have nine grandchildren. Council of Women. For the past 10 years she has volunteered her time and been a "pinky lady as the LDS hospital. She is a member of the University of Utah Mothers Club. Both are active in the LDS church, where Don is now a High Priest group leader and a host at Temple Square visitor center. He is also a worker at the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Florence has held many positions the church and for 15 years was on the Bonneville Stake Sunday School board. Together they enjoy football games, hunting, fishing, camping and have been with the Happy Squares, a square dancing group , for over 30 years. in Homestead Honeymoon For The Russell Blairs Barbara Handshy Weds Anderson In Temple Russell K. Blair and Diane Smout exchanged vows and rings in a ceremony performed in the Jordan River LDS Temple on September 7th. A wedding breakfast followed at the home of the grooms parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth G. Blair, Granger, and later that evening a reception was given, also at the grooms parents home. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph K. Smout, Granger, and is a graduate of Granger high. The groom is a graduate of Kearns high and graduated with honors from the College of Mines and Mineral Industry at the University of Utah with a bachelors degree in geophysics. He filled an LDS mission to Osaka, Japan. Attendants to the bride were Sharlene Harvey as matron honor with Susan Udy, Sally Roberts, Susan Kay Anderson and Chris-tiann- e Chun as bridemaids. Shelly and Amy Harvey were flower girls while Marjorie Biddle presided over the guest book.
