The Taylorsville youths defeated Carson City plus Northern 1 and to advance to California the championship against Central California. The Utah champs had lost to Central earlier in the tournament and had to play the California team twice to win the region championship. Taylorsville rallied with a six-ru- n seventh inning to win the first game and took a lead in with Central the first inning of the second contest on Steve Woolleys three-ruhomer. Central tied the game in the sixth to send the game into extra innings. After Taylorsville took a one-ru- n lead in the eighth, Centrals lead-of- f hitter ripped a solo home run in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at Central won the game in the ninth on a slow grounder that scored a man from third.
