Two public hearings for zoning changes, one at 2100 South 7200 West and the other at 3610 So. Market St., will be conducted by the City Council here tonight (Thursday). The council discussed the hearings, among other items, at a study session Tuesday evening. Stanley Perry is seeking a zoning amendment to build an office and warehouse for an insulation business on two acres of ground at 2100 South and 7200 West. If approved, the insulation business acre of would be built on one-hathe land. The area is currently zoned 0 A-2- yet. The developer doesnt have the required footage on each side for the protection strip, so he is asking the city to utilize part of its as a protection strip to protect his investment. A subdivision approval is also being sought by Kent Ekstrom for Circle Tree subdivision. The developer is proposing a subdivision at 6240 W. 3050 South and asking that plat B of the development be vacated. Although the developer doesnt own the plat yet because of a foreclosure waiting period, it is seeking approval to begin improvements before cold weather sets in. The foreclosure will be final in three weeks. Three agreements were also discussed at the study session. Hector, Inc. has offered to lease land to the city for a badly needed detention pond at 4800 West and West Point Drive for $1 a year. However, the owner reserves the right to develop the area at any l. 15-un- it National Project Plymouth Students Helping Save Statue A TAYLORSVILLE. e school-wid- Save the Statue of Liberty project is under way at Plymouth elementary. The project is based upon a Readers Digest article that called attention to the need for renovation of the famous lady in preparation for her anniversary in 1986, said teacher Janet Thorpe. The statue and base are badly in need of renovation and voluntary are being sought contributions throughout the nation for the project, she explained. It is hoped that the entire project can be handled through voluntary private donations, because that is the way the funds were raised when the statue was built, she added. Funds for the statue were raised by contributions from the French people, who sent the lady with the lamp as a gift to the United States. The base for the statue was built through funds raised in the United States from voluntary contributions. Promoters of the national project hope the work can be completed in time for the birthday celebration three years from now.
