A new assertive discipline program is being initiated by PTA leaders at Stansbury elementary. Parents have been given a packet offering information and are being invited to sign up for workshops to be held later in the year, according to PTA president Sterla Hansen. The program is based upon recommendations offered by a committee of teachers, reviewed by a parent committee, and finally approved by the PTA, she explained. The program involves general rules for use in home and school, Mrs. Hansen said. A book fair will conclude tomorrow (Friday) at the school.
