Show 3C WEST VALLEY VIEW Thursday, May In Locations 12, 1983 - County Recreation Schedule Is Full Of Fun Summertime is a busy season for the County Recreation Department. For good reason. Just about anything you can think of doing, County Rec is doing. From hosting softball tournaments to fishing days for kids, the county is there. There are big wheel contests and frisbee golf tournaments. Weird pet contests and hackey sack tournaments. Paper airplane contests and jazz festivals. A track and field meet and summer basketball. Thats just a start. Photography County Rec also is sponsoring a photo contest built around the theme Something Special. Entries must be taken between June 1 and Aug. 15. Competition is open to persons of all ages. Competition is divided into amateur black and white print and amateur color. Entries are to be sent to Photo Contest, Salt Lake County Recreation, 3383 So. 300 East, Salt Lake City, 84115. Tennis clinics will begin for persons of all ages on June 25. Rauno Suominen will provide some of the instruction. 21-2- 14-1- on June 4, when the county sponsors a 10 kilometer run at Saltair Beach (which could be difficult if it continues to flood). On July 2, the Faberge 5 kilometer womens run will be held at the Salt Lake International Center. The race will be held July 30 at the Kearns Recreation Center. Wrapping up the running schedule will be the Dear Hunters Widow Run, a race open only to women. It will take place at Saltair Beach on Oct. 22 when many men will be in the hills chasing deer. ut Puppet Shows Pioneer Craft House isnt the only location the puppeteers perform. They take their show on the road as well, visiting libraries throughout the valley. In the Green Sheet area, the puppet troupe will make the following stops: - June 6, Granger Library ; -- June 7, Magna Library; - June 13, Kearns Library ; - June 21 , Calvin Smith Library -- June 27, Whitmore Library; -- June 28, Holladay Library; - July 12, East Millcreek Library. The only charge is for materials. The Craft House is also the site of weekly puppet shows. The first is A variety of tennis lesson programs are being offered during the summer. Registration will begin on June 4 for classes at numerous sites in the valley.
