Ca- ble television differs from broadcast television in that it is a private contract. .This legislation also exempted Channel 1 which made the bills, in my view, discriminatory. A person has the right to see a show such as An Officer and a Gentleman on their cable, particularly when the same show can be rented as a video. There are sufficient laws in Utah code to regulate hardcore pornography. I voted against the bill that would have required the use of child restraint seats. I dont feel more brick and mortar is the appropriate priority when our public schools lack textbooks, our teachers are inadequately paid and our classroom sizes are too large. I didnt feel more money spent to build buildings for higher education was responsible when classrooms in existing college buildings are utilized an average of only 22 hours per week.
