Show Cleora Brock Returns Home 53 WEST VALLEY WftV Thursday, Mar. 17, 1983 Prognosis Good After Marrow Transplant by plant, the patient had a bone marrow test done and the doctors found new cells, though they were scarce. The next day, the cells had doubled and they continue to increase. Mrs. Brock was checked on Monday again and things are looking very good, her sister reported. She will continue to be checked often to make sure that progress is continu- Margaret Slack GRANGER. Cleora Brock is home from the hospital and everything is looking really good following bone marrow transplant surgery at LDS hospital three weeks ago. Its a miracle, her twin sister remarked. She was taken out of the bubble (sterile room) exactly two weeks after the transplant and just two days later was able to go home. Cleo Anglesey of Hunter is back at work at a Granger bank following her part of the surgery. The bone marrow transplant took place on Feb. 23 in a operation. Cleo had the marrow extracted through her hip bones in a continuous operation and the prepared marrow was given to her identical twin, suffering from acute leukemia, in three different extractions, at 7:30 a.m., noon and 2:30 p.m. On the 14th day after the trans- - ing. Her doctors and other attending personnel are jubilant with the results. With the two women being identical twins, the three major diseases common in bone marrow transplant cases did not even get started. Mrs. Brock did have to have platelets several times while waiting for the new bone marrow to begin growing. Her twin gave platelets twice during the critical waiting period following the transplant and she received some from other donors as 5'2-ho- Looking back at the experience, Mrs. Anglesey repeated, It was a miracle. No one has ever depended on me for their life before. It was truly a humbling experience. well. Mrs. Anglesey, the donor twin, reported that she was "stiff, sore and it was painful, but Id do it again, she quickly announced. The twin sisters were told theirs is the 24th case of identical twins being involved in such a transplant in the entire world and the first at LDS hospital. Because of the seriousness of the procedure and the previous success rate, the patient was required to make out her will before surgery ever began. Now Mrs. Brock can look to a new life of hope and can concentrate on getting her strength built up and regaining her appetite which the chemotherapy took away completely Primary To Sponsor Kite Flying Activity GRANGER.
