Annual Contest y nament demands a great deal from the contestants, he pointed out. Chess is thought of as a brain game, he remarked, but it requires a lot of physical stamina to play for three straight days. Many students develop severe headaches, and some dont sleep for two days after the event, he said. Chess seems to be more of a mans game, with comparatively few girls participating in the events, Mr. Jones noted. Out of his 20 students, only three are girls, he said, although some girls become top players. This is true every year, he added, many more boys than girls are always involved in chess club. The Cyprus students practice many hours, building their skills towards future games, said the teacher.
