Over 40 participants competed in the fourth annual Magna stake scout swim meet last week at the Magna pool. The activity, under the direction of Jack Cox, included eight events with a total of 15 races, as well as a coin dive. In addition, Bart Fotheringham demonstrated swim- ming strokes, safety techand niques. First place winners in the freestyle included Jamie Sargent, life-savin- g Travis Thomas, Michael Obray and Grant Turpin. Ephraim Kurszewski and Jeremy Frandson tied for second in the age group. Other second place finishers included Jeremy Wetzel, Michael Cox and Chris Lloyd. Underwater swim- mers who won first places were Michael Olsen and Travis Thompson. Jeremy Frandson and Tyson Pike tied for second, while Greg Page also garnered a second place. Winners in the racing backstroke were Jamie Sargent, Jeff White and Michael Obray.
