He is an Eagle Scout and has earned his Duty to God and On My Honor Awards. letterman SHAKESPEARE LIVES ON By ROSS TAYLOR LAYTON - LaytonShakesHigh Schools annual pearian Festival will be held at the school, Thursday, Feb. 1 at 7:30 p.m. for the preliminary attractions, with the plays starting at 8 p.m. at various places throughout the school. THE FESTIVAL will feature Madrigal singers, dance groups, a puppet show, wax instrumental museum, music, venders selling homemade items and other Elizabethan attractions including five of Shakes. peares plays.' . .The event is unique because 500 it features over sophomores and has been very popular with audiences for many years, the public is invited and the admission is free. AMONG THE plays are Romeo and Juliet, MacA Midbeth, Othello, summer Nights Dream and The Taming of the Shrew. The players include Ben McCormick, Joyce Brown, Sherrie Forgacs, R.J. Loken, David Wakefield, Lisa Almond, Terry Whitaker, Nancy Hollis, Teresa Wimmer, Don Olson, Anne Rowly; Steve Story, Brenda Buhler, John Novinsky, Dean Moyer, Mike Fresh, Jelayne Hall, Konrad Wilford, Bruce Bakker, Joni High, Jill Hansen, Carmen Overson, Steve Estes, Sheila Canfield, Vince Strong, Tom McDonald, Dave Norris and Norman Parker. THERE WILL be a snow sculpture contest, Friday, Feb. 2 on the Layton High soccer field. The contest is. for anyone who wants to do a sculpture, anything from a snowman to a snow castle will be acceptable. The contest will begin at 2 p.m., snow permitting. Tomorrow is the basketball game with Layton at Roy. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. and the public is invited to come and support the team effort. ELDER PEARCE has been employed at R.C. Willey & Sons since graduating from school. He will report to the Mission Training Center on Feb. 8. Stake Conference Set For New Stake Roger Bean of the newly created Layton Utah,; Holmes Creek Stake an-- , nounced that the new stake will hold its first stake Parenting Seminar Set For Jan. 27th conference Jan. PRES. BEAN said that Elder John M. R. Covey, Regional Representative of the Church, will preside over the conference. 27-2- The conference sessions include a Saturday night session at 7 p.m., Jan. 27 for all stake and ward leaders. A Sunday morningside will be held for the youth at 8 a.m. Jan. 28. LATER that morning a general session will convene at 10 a. in. for all stake members. Visitors will be welcome and are invited to attend. meetings will be held at the stake house located at 125 Chapel Street in Layton. All W Eagle Scout award, the highest award given in the boy scouting program. HAS RODNEY also achieved his Brotherhood in the Order of the Arrow and held various leadership positions throughout his scouting years. In his church he has served as president of both the Deacon and Teachers Quorum and secretary of the Priest Quorum in his priesthood, in the Kaysville 3rd LDS Ward of the Kaysville Utah Stake. WHILE AT Davis High School he served as fourth president of the Davis High PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) being the first student ever to serve in that capacity. He graduated from Davis High School in 1978. He toured Europe in the summer of 1978 with the Utah Honor Band and Chorus. Rodney sang with the madrigals while at Davis and was an active member of the Kaysville Third Ward choir. HE WAS ordained an Elder in OcL 1978 and is presently serving as LDS Stake Mis- sionary in the Reno North Nevada Stake. Rodney is at presently employed Truckee, Calif, and his eagle award was presented to him by President Bell of the Reno North Stake presidency. Rodney is awaiting his mission call to serve a mission for his church, np ,Ch. She is an assistant professor at the University of Utah and has been active in development of new programs and methods dealing with early childhood education. SHE IS a consultant on early childhood education, a of counselor graduate students and a student advisor. She is the author of many published articles and has been active in many volunteer capacities in the community. She has been a Primary president on the ward and stake level and has Slated h I STERLING THOMAS A. HALVERSON served on the Primary General Board since 1969. Child psychiatrist Thomas A. Halverson, M.D. will speak and present a film on child abuse. He was educated at BYU and received his medical degree from the University of California. He was an assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Utah, College of Medicine and an associate professor in psychiatry at the University of Utah College of Medicine. W. SILL manuals. He has been active in com- munity affairs, serving two terms as mayor of Preston, Ida. and is now Davis County commissioner. He has also taught in various teaching positions for 37 years. He was the director of curriculum in of the Department Seminaries and Institutes for eight years and he was the originator of the Seminary Home Study program. MR. EBERHARD has been is a DR. HALVERSON psychiatric consultant for the Utah State Division of Mental Health, Medical Director of the Childrens Center, Clinical Director of Consultation Social Services of the of Child Department Psychiatry of the Primary Childrens Medical Center and psychiatric consultant to the child protection team at Primary Medical Center. He has also held many positions in the LDS Church and given much of his time in community service dealing with child psychiatry. The grandparents are David and Betty Jones of Sunset. Mr. and Mrs. Bishop and Maud Jones are the Dean Pearson of Cedar City visited Wednesday at the home of his sister Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hawkes. Lane Jones and Mrs. Deborah Packard returned home Saturday from visiting a week at Ranier, Ore. with Mr. and Mrs. Larry Lomax and children. Mrs. Lucile B. Dorothy Parrish writes home that she spent the holidays traveling with other Stanford students, first to London for a few days, then to a ski resort near Freiburg, Germany, on to Florence, Italy. Dorothy spent fall quarter in the Stanford program at Tours, France and is now in Berlin, Germany where she will attend winter quarter.
