Can any of the following casualties be us? Are we victims of; flabby thighs, brood behinds, pot bellies, double chins, droopy arms, or sagging breats? More important, can we see what is happening to the only body we will ever have? Our lives could be shortened at least ten years if we are overweight. One brownie does not a bulge make CLEANING THE SLUDGE our bodies free from sludge, harmful disease and How do we keep abusive FAT? First we can resolve to take better care of ourselves. We can change our attitude and change our eating habits. A good nutritional diet can change our lives. Eat more raw fruits and vegetables. Whole grain breads and cereals are essential for roughage. Cut down on fatty meats, but include other good protein foods such as eggs, milk, cheese, yogart. Drink glasses of water daily to help flush out impurities. Eliminate sugar, salt, white flour, and other high carbohydrate foods. Next, adopt an exercise program to help burn off calories and tone muscles. It is also highly recommended to supplement your diet with necessary vitamins and minerals. The most reasonable solution to vitamins is supplements proper formulated as naturally as possible by individuals educated and specialized in nutrition. A good guide to health and nutrition is available through health food stores. Also, there are other organizations and diet clubs in the local area to educate those wanting to change bad 6-- It is amazing how oblivious we are about our excess weight. Most women are aware when they are gaining, but are shocked every time they set foot on the scale. Scales are avoided like the plague by most women. In fact, scales are one of our least favorite things. Life goes on day by day with hardly a concern about ourweight until the crucial moment of meeting face to face with THE SCALE. The only thing worse than stepping on the scale would be walking the plank or perhaps committing hari-kari- ' ' ." She has gained, or is afraid she has whether she has or not; so stepping on that scale is just terribly hard. It would be hilarious if we were to .watch our own reaction to the scale on a Candid Camera film. When a woman hasnt weighed very recently she is quite hesitant. Her outlook for the rest of her life depends on this weighing. First off come the shoes and then anything else possible. (Everything else would be more realistic). Carefully placing one foot on the scale she hangs on to the nearest object, (usually a towel rack,) or she presses against the wall so that the scale will measure a less weight. When the pressure is slowly released the scale gradually shows the correct weight. This procedure must somehow pad the shock. At least the delay eases the sudden realization to a lesser degree which allows the mind time to justify or excuse any drastic gain. However, regardless of how we react when we realize the pounds are creeping on, it is still difficult to com- prehend all that went into this d SUDDEN GAIN. The truth is that there is no such thing as a sudden gain. We can try to blame it on that brownie, or that piece of cake, or that turkey dinner, but the answer would be all of the above mentioned PLUS! ! It is incredible how an entire cake can disappear a thin sliver at a ONE little piece, we tell time. ourselves, couldnt hurt. But, the - truth that one little piece ends up being two or three little of it all is pieces. Right? Isnt it also true that the more we eat the less we fee! like anything except to eat? This is one good reason the pounds keep creeping on. We eat more food and at the same time we are eliminating essential activity or exercise. It is very simple; a of food MINUS exercise equals excess fat. A gradual gain is inevitable if our body is unable to burn off all the calories of our food intake. So, FAT is formed and is deposited in lipid globuals which remain, demanding to be fed. From this time forth we have created for ourselves a royal battle of the bulge." There are many psychological reasons why we are overweight. To most people, food represents much more than body fuel. It means security and love. Since these feelings are formed from infancy, life often revolves around the loving provisions of food. This pleasure in eating is identical with pleasure in living and loving, and many adults never lose these feelings. Food is used as a means-orewarding ourselves. By the same token, loneliness also A monster is causes overeating. created here because loneliness can-no- t be compensated by hiding behind unattractive, protective armor. We eat when we are anxious, nervous, and the pains of self-pit-y knaw inside us. Many people have a tendency to overeat whenever there "is tension. The greatest offense of being overweight is the effect it has on our health. However, a lot of damage is done to the natrual contour and shape of our bodies. Have a drink five or six times a day. Our body will receive the nutrients it needs, yet we are cleansing and detoxifying those important organs. It also gives our body a rest from digesting all the heavy foods we have been eating. If we do not have a juicer of this kind, there are many other ways we can cleanse. One fantastic body cleanser which is very easy to do is to cut tiny cubes of melon and keep cool in a bowl in the refrigerator. Then, several times, throughout the day, eat one of these cubes. But, it is important not to eat other foods or liquids. The next day upon rising, drink 6 oz. of warm water with the juice of one lemon, adding no sweetener, except maybe a tiny it of honey. Then, for breakfast and drink an 8 oz. glass of good fruit or vegetable juice; tomato, or carrot orange, pineapple, grapefruit. This should be fresh or frozen and unsweetened. For lunch, a cup of clear broth or bouillon, a fresh fruit, and a cup of herb tea with lemon or a glass of skim milk. we may have another glass of fruit or vegetable juice. For dinner we get a cup of cleer broth or clear soup, a vegetable salad made from our choice of vegetables, with lemon juice or apple cider vinegar dressing, a raw or stewed fruit, or a handful of raisins mixed with unprocessed nuts. Then for the liquid we can have some low fat milk, or juice. If we really want to get a good cleaning, les go on a lemon juice fast. The body could use a change, and it deserve it! ! Excess weight , is generally the result of poor eating habits and lack of exerise. It is extremely important to start our reducing plan by insuring proper elimination of toxins. We can achieve this with a good healthful THREE DAY CLEANSING DIET. A detoxifying diet can cleanse and remove a lot of debris from the organs, glands, blood stream and tissues. Its very helpful in cieansipg the wall of the small intestines which become very encrusted with undigested food. This food can actually form a barrier to the absorpting of important nutrients into the blood stream. The colon, or bowel is one of the most neglected and ignored parts of the body. But there are some very important findings that need to be brought to our attention. As the colon becomes clogged, so does the mind. Most people become very irritable and irrational when they are not eliminating properly. Proper nutrition has more to do with our general well being than we may at first want to give credit. If we have spent our lives eating a variety of vegetables and fruit as God intended, we should have a very healthly colon. When the colon is clean and normal, it functions as a sewage system moving the bacterial poisons out before they beccme a problem. if it is neglected, the However, colon actually becmes a stagnated cesspool.
