Lance has been one of the best athletes weve had in a long time. I know Coach(Mike) Gardner has commented time and time again that he only had to explain something once in basketball. He picks up something fast and doesn't have to be told again. DRAAYER, Hill's baseball coach for the past three years, athlete called the one of the most coachable he's ever been associated with. Draayer went further to say, There isn't a teacher in the school that doesn't trust him and as far as I know he never tried to take advantage of anyone in the classroom. HILL, LIKE Hatch, hopes to continue to play both football and baseball at the southern junior college. This summer Hill will play in the high school football contest. Over the past two seasons he has been a mainstay at the fullback and defensive back positions. From time to time, Davis coaches switched Hill from quarterback to running back and then back to quarterback. He never complained, never let us down, but took what we said and engrained it in his performance. said Draaver. even THE63 made difficult changes in the middle of crucial games, always coming through. Safety On Trampoline By BLAKE STARR Trampoline: a propelling device activated by jumping, upon which gymnastics are performed; alternatively, a propelling device that is used to increase the height of a jumping activity. (ansi-ATS- F381-7- WITH SUMMER ahead, it Quigley. soon will be time for a variety of outdoor activities including playing on the neighborhood trampoline. The use of trampolines is becoming widespread across the U.S. As a teaching tool in gymnastics training, it decreases the amount of learning time for several skills performed in floor exercise routines. It can TT IXmLt also increase strength, ba- lance, and muscular coordination. When used correctly, it can even be used as a cardiovascular exercise. UNFORTUNATELY, before the end of the summer, at least one person in the Salt Lake area will fall victim to a trampoline accident. In this article, I will provide some ideas and guidelines on the safe operation of trampolines for those who own or plan on owning a trampoline. The location where you set up your trampoline is a critical part of safe trampolining. It should be placed on a level sur-fac- e, providing adequate clearance for wires, tree limbs, 'In THE BEST that I can say about Hill is that the kids idolize him and the teachers think the world of him." said Draayer. There was a day once that Brent Hatch had his football coaches puzzled. THEY COULDNT figure out how, as only a sophomore, that Hatch could continually do the kind of things he did with a football. He could do everything. Pass it, intercept it and appeared at times the world's greatest threat at running it back on returns, fences, and other possible FREE hazards. BEFORE USING, check for any obstructions beneath the trampoline. Whenever possible, it should be shielded from view of passing pedestrians Hair Cut and Style and motorists, especially with every $25.00 Perm Expires May 30th 38 South Main Street, Bountiful 292-275- 6 For an appointment or more information iuWi. i-- -i. --7JT i ri mu m SZTli young children. If the trampoline is to be used in an open area, it should be either covered, or folded and locked when not in use. If a neighbor or passing pedestrian is injured on a trampoline on your property with or without adequate supervision, you may be legally liable. I HAVE been shocked at the number of unattended trampolines open to free public use displayed in the front yards of several homes. Even at the age of three, an unattended child can climb up and fall off a trampoline as easily as falling into a swimming pool. Several families are providing a pit trampoline for their children. It usually requires nothing more than digging a pit in the yard and dropping the trampoline into the hole. There are both advantages and disadvantages to this. ONE OF THE greatest advantages is what happens when you fall off. If you are bouncing four feet off the bed, depending on the height of the trampoline frame, you will be falling from as high as eight feet, (similar to falling off the roof of a house!). With the trampoline in a pit, the distance is reduced. Some disadvantages include: anybody can get on the trampoline, and once on, are less inhibited as to the difficulty of the skills they perform because the bed is at ground level. In setting up a good pit trampoline, the floor of the pit should be stabilized to prevent the tramp from sinking in. THE WALLS should also be supported to keep from falling in. Finally, one should find out the location of underground pipes and electrical wires, so as not to end up with a small electrified swimming pool. e Any person using the tram-polin- should be well-inform- of the operation and safety rules. Perhaps that is enough reason why he was selected to captain football, basketball and baseball his senior years. WE AS coaches watched Brent come right up through the little leagues and there was never a game that he couldn't break it wide open with a super play.
