The former Layton resident donated new concrete and reinforced the walls at the city swimming pool, although City Recreation Director Sam Dato, left, was writing out a city check for $500 when he was informed there would be no charge. Mr. Parrish, whose parents are Mr. and Mrs. Walter F. Parrish, owns. Wasatch Pools in Clinton and said he believes swimming is probably the best exercise youngsters have available and added hed like all to be able to take advantage of the activity. He was assisted in the work by Dave Speth, left. The annual health fair for senior citizens, sponsored by the Council On Aging and the three centers in Davis County, was held May 16 at the George Q. Knowlton School in Farmington. The clinic served 200 people with various health checks. volunteers professional people, FORTY-NIN- 1 and 39 E doctors and nurses, plus the staff of each center donated their services. People should choose the activities they are most interested in and the area that is most convenient for them. Registration date for all activities beginning on Monday will be June 1; for Tuesday activities, June 2, etc. Register on the day and time listed. When more than one day is shown on the parks and recreation brochure, register on the first day listed. all.re-creatio- WEBER BASIN WATER CONSERVANCY DISTRICT Keith G. Jensen, Secretary trip on May 28. leaving the Centerat 10a.m. and returning about 3 p.m. A box lunch will be served at the summit and the cost for the trip and lunch is $10. Make reservations at the center. ALL ACTIVITIES will be held on the days listed throughout the summer. A complete listing of all activities, locations, times, ages and costs is available through the Layton City Parks and Recreation office. BATON AND drill classes will be held at the Armory. The Chapel Street Park will be the site of adult softball, tennis, general recreation and archery. Adult softball started May 18. Tennis will start June with registration at the tennis courts. Adult tennis will be conducted only if enough individuals sign up. Cost will be announced at the time of registration. 1 CRESTVIEW Elementary will have classes in archery and general recreation. East Layton Elementary will also offer these two activities. Archery, general recrea- tion, adult softball, church softball and co-e-d softball will be conducted at Layton Elementary. LAYTON HIGH School will be the location for many recreational programs including arts and crafts, baseball, cheerleading, gymnastics, junior high softball, children tennis and field and track. Cheerleaders will be organized into teams and will perform at the WFFL football games in August, September and October. A PEEWEE meeting for parents and boys will be May 29 at 2 p.m. on the double diamonds west of the football stadium. Plan toattend. Teams will be formed at this time. Classes in archery, arts and crafts, field and track, general recreation and gymnastics will be held at Lincoln School. Buses will pick youngsters up in front of the pool at 10 a.m. Children should have $7 for food and passes. Buses will leave Lagoon at 4 p.m. and arrive at the Layton swimming pool at 4:30 p.m. The Davis County Junior Olympics for field and track will be held at Davis High School on Wednesday , June 24 at 8:30 a.m. All city winners will be notified. LAYTON CITY Recreation host an archery tournament for Davis County at Layton High School grounds July 16 at 9 a.m. Layton city has five excellent parks with boweries for 8 picnicing and parties. Call for reservations of these facilities. Reservations will be started each year on Jan. 2. will 376-345- LAYTON WILL have registration for football Aug. I at 8:30 a.m. in the recreation department of the city hall. The cost will be $20 which includes a $3 physical. Boys must be eights year old to participate. Age cut off date is Aug. 31. Layton has ten football teams. Weight classifications are as follows: 75 lbs., 90 lbs., 105 lbs., 125 lbs. and 155 lbs. The 155 lbs. class fee will be $25. Uniforms and equipment are furnished. All equipment must be turned in within one week of completion of the program. Five dollars will be refunded when the equipment is turned in. THE LAYTON City swimming pool will open May 28 and remain open Monday through Saturday from 1:15 p.m. to 7 p.m. Cost will be 60 cents for children through II; 85 cents for 12 to 17 year olds and $1 per adult. Season passes are $30 singles. $60 for two and $65 for three and $75 for four or more. Swimming lessons are $12. Registration will start June I. Syncronizing lessons are $15. Other swimming classes offered are Red Cross classes, water adjustment through advanced swimming, ladies water exercise and swimming, mom and tot swim classes. SWIM PARTIES are available on a first come, first serve basis. Reservations can be made by calling the pool at The pool is normally available at 7:15 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Cost for reserving the pool is up to 75 peo0 ple $35; people. $50: 0 50 people $65 : 5 people and up $80 payable in advance. 1 1 1 1 1 Four city championship swim race meets will be held July 6 at p.m. The county swim championships will be held at the Clearfield pool on July II. JUNIOR GOLF lessons are available at the Valley View Golf Course. Deadline for signup is May 29. 1 Layton recreation will re- sume the spring soccer program in September. Children that played spring soccer will play fall soccer at no additional charge. New participants will pay $7. New teams will be organized by elementary school areas. FINALLY, Lay ton has several very nice horseshoe pits. Some are located in the Chapel Street Park and some are in a lighted area of the Layton Commons Park.
