They called this bread little arms (bracellae) from the Latin word the Germans later called them brezel or prezel which we today call pretzel. They would appear on Ash Wednesday being sold by special vendors along city streets. When the end of Lent came the pretzels would disappear. It was only during the last century that bakers began making pretzels year around. The Rev. Daryl Robarge of the Trinity Lutheran Church and his wife, Debbie, have been kind enough to share this information with us. But its something you never think about when youre well. So with even a minor illness, many people end up at the hospital Emergency Department because they dont know a doctor to call. No Emergency Department, of course, will ever refuse to treat your common cold. But Emergency Departments are not meant to replace personal physicians or provide you with the same kinds of services. HOUR FREE RENTAL 1 Thats why Davis North Medical Center has developed the Physician Information Service. Its a way for new residents, and others without a personal physician, to easily locate a doctor in the specialty they need, convenient to their home or place of work. There is no charge for this service. Finding a personal physician before youre sick makes good sense for many reasons. The doctor can get to know you and your medical history and you have the opportunity to talk with the physician to make sure you feel comfortable with him or her. Regular checkups can reveal hidden medical problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure or anemia that often are present but have no symptoms. And should you become ill or have an accident, your physician will be better prepared to offer treatment with knowledge of your medical background. If you dont have a personal physician now, dont wait until youre sick to find one. Call the Physician Information Service offered by Davis North Medical Center. from number is The 441.
