THEY WILL be reunited with their family in Chile for a marvelous Christmas, just to have Claudio alive and home again. Claudio was accompanied to the states by two Kaysville LDS Missionaries, Elder Kirk Larson and Elder Todd Van Brocklin who were serving in Chile and were released by the LDS Church, two weeks early to accompany the boy and his mother on the flight to the states. These two missionaries were instrumental in helping Claudio get to the states for special treatment. CLAUDIO was struck by an automobile Dec. 29, while returning from 1981 swim- ming. He remained in a coma for 16 days. He later underwent extensive surgery and as time went on complications occurred which were rare in his case, but that doctors in Chile were unable to perform the necessary surgery to save his life.
