Eugene Prigmore is visiting in Richland, Wash, with his Mr. daughter and MYSV1LLE ROTARY SPEAKERS ct WITH THE addition of this program, Weber State College becomes the only institution of higher education in the nation to offer bachelor of science degrees in radiation therapy, ultrasonic radiology and nuc-- , lear medicine. ; George Pales, M. Ed., R.T.T., is the education coordinator of the program, and will provide classroom instruction. He will be assisted by Sister Jean Gibson, Pd.D., radiation physicist at St. Benedicts Val A. Browning Radiation Therapy Center. Jean Ward serves as program director of Allied Health Sci- ences. FIVE STUDENTS are curin the new program. These students, who already have their associate of technoloarts degree in gy, will complete 45 hours of upper division classwork in radiation therapy, and 15 additional elective hours to earn a rently enrolled BS degree in radiation therapy. The students will receive their clinical instruction at St. Benedicts radiation therapy , center, and at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo during the year. In Provo, the students will be under the direction of Bob Elton, the hospitals radiation therapy coordinator. IN OGDEN, radiation therapy director Harriet St. Laurent will supervise the clinical instruction. The entire course of classroom and clinical education require twelve months. While in training, the students will learn the skill of treatment planning and treatment of cancer patients. They will study the nature of the disease, and how to operate the equipment used in radiation therapy.
