In addition, the board gave approval to several other matters ur Manti High School will have something new next year - the freshman center. The center will -- occupy the eight mobile classrooms on the campus. There the 50 or so freshmen will attend their academic classes in subjects like English, math and science. Their teachers will be Judy Gubler, Jari Stokes, Marc Taylor and two others still to be named. At :30 each afternoon the freshmen will go to the main building for their elective classes. They will have their lunch break before the rest of the students. Then, as movement skills are developed, students are encouraged to devise, choreograph, and perform their own dances. The Brigham Young University Dancers Company performed for the students as a part of an program now being taught at the school. It approved the purchase of 35.1 acres of land from Keller Christensen of Gunnison, as the site for a proposed middle school. The tract is located adjacent to the Gunnison Valley High School campus and will enable the two schools to share some facilities. The terms of the transaction cannot be disclosed until the final details have been worked out between the two parties.
