Show PAGE TEMPLAR TRUMPET, SEPTEMBER 2, 1999 5 On the first day of High School the teacher said to me... By: Anna Osmond It was the exciting day of 14 Fitzgerald most year old Harold Yiekenhiemers life. He found himself to be somewhat suave in his brand spankin new florescent yellow, green and purple plaid button up shirt accented with the two greatest inventions of all time, a plain white pocket protector and some extra stretchy orange suspenders. Yep, with at least a full 16 ounce bottle of Dep gel in his hair and a pair of pants that suggests that young Fitzgerald is prepared for a flood, he was ready for his first day of High School. Now, by the way this story has been going so far, you may think that Fitzgerald w ould be in for a great first day. In fact, you're probably thinking that Fitzgerald is the model High School student. But, unfortunately, Fitzgerald is really the perfect example of a teacher's worst nightmare. At 8:00 am sharp the bell rang and Fitzgerald took his seat in the front row right next to the teacher's desk. You see, Fitzgerald loved his teachers. He felt that in order to get all that he could out of his classes, he needed to be right next to the person who was filling him with such precious pearls of knowledge. So as soon as the teacher stood up and walked to the middle of the class to call role and introduce herself, Fitzgerald hopped up and stood right next to her. After receiving the incredibly large hug from Fitzgerald, she loudly inquired, Who the googly ninny are you? I'm Fitzgerald Harold Yeikenhiemer! But you can call me Fitz for short. My favorite ice cream is pickles and butter r I I j cream. I love to do homework! Yes! I love to do homework, lots and lots of homework. But only when the homework has been assigned by such a lovely teacher like you! I love you Miss Guinch! After running half way around the room Miss Guinch said, Fitz, will you please take your seat like all the other children. But I love you my dear teacher! Can't I just sit by you? No Fitz. I cannot teach you and the rest properly of the children if you are not seated in a desk. Fitz started walking back to his classroom but stopped when he was by the kitchen doors. At first he was just curious about what he would be partaking of during lunch that day. Then, after catching a glimpse of the three lovely lunch ladies, Fitz decided to go join them in preparing lunch. Hi. Im Fitzgerald Harold Yeikenhiemer but you can call me Fitz for short. I just came in here because I love with lunch ladies so much! And also a Fitzgerald, single tear running down the side of because I need something to do his chubby cheek, turned and right now and I figured you could walked back to his seat. He use some help. The lunch ladies smiled couldn't stand sitting there, where the in no at his near alone desk, sight of this darling boy the teacher. Put on these rubber down! I can't believe that on gloves and this hair net. You can the first day of school my help us carry all this food over teacher denied me. Oh, the and set it by the counter. Just do that, and well be back in a minute. Were just going to run and grab a soda. Fitz couldn't wear the or gloves the hair net due to the fact that his head and hands were very sensitive to foreign objects. When he saw that they were serving pizza, hamburgers and green salad he was absolutely shocked! Fitzgerald won't eat anything that has meat in it, starts with a p, is green or came from Chicago. He figured that most of the other students felt the same way he did, so he disposed of the food and started making his favorite ice cream. All three lunch ladies passed out when they walked in and smelt the pickles and butter cream concoction Fitz was stirring up. When they came to they yelled, Fitzgerald, run! Run away and never return! Fitz wanted to obey the dear ladies and do what they asked him to, but he was just too depressed. As he walked down the hallway one of the faculty members that hadnt met him yet asked him what was wrong. He couldnt look into their face and say, On the first day of school the lunch ladies said to me, 'Run, Run away and never return. So Fitz just walked away. As he approached the big glass doors that separated him from the outside world he saw a penny! A brand new shiny copper penny! He bent down, and the shiny up picked never Fitz had masterpiece! found a penny, never! It had always been his dream, and now, he had one. He held it tight in his hand, turned around, and skipped back down the hall. The penny w as a sign to Fitz. a sign that despite what every one had thought of him. that this school year would be great. The penny gave him the confidence to give every one another try . So as Miss Guinch passed him in the hall, he didn't hesitate to pounce on her and give her another great big hug! pain. As you can imagine, the rest of Fitzgerald's classes proved to be the same. Fitz charm seemed to be running a little low; but that wasn't going to get him down. He figured that if he couldn't get his teachers to love him, there would always be the lunch ladies! Fitz, and every other student in the school, were scheduled to eat lunch at 12:30. Fitzgerald's 5th hour teacher had asked him to go to the school's arcade room and play games all hour. After looking and not being able to find it and then having the principal laugh hysterically when he asked where he could find it, he came to the conclusion that some one coupon expires Sep. 15, 1999 footlong sub at regular price and get a second for $0.99 Buy had stolen the arcade room. And by the principals reaction, he suspected him to be the one who took it.
