New gym ready to go at MHS spent over thirty years at Manti High School. I look forward to the having gym. Our old one is in good condition but a school of our size really needs two gyms to fully accommodate all of the students. It will be great for physical education classes and for use in activity programs. I invite all of our students and patrons to enjoy it and help take care of it. By: Becca Scholes Manti High School is definitely stepping up in the world. At least thats what one may conclude from the recent completion of die schools sec- an end. The finish has been applied to the floor and is drying and the gym should be ready for use by September 6. The facility will be named the ond working gymnasium. Wilbur Braithwaite Sports The all new, approxiComplex in honor of the well and and loved basketball known one a mately $2,000,000, half year project has come to and tennis coach, who has said MrTetersen. The new gym (located straight down the hallway from die old gym) seats about 1,800 as opposed to 1,200 in the old gym. The mascot was painted by local artist, Debbie Harman. She says of the new gym, I love it Im glad weve got such a nice one. It will be used for drillteam. cheerleading, volleyball, basketball games, practices and classes. It will not be used for dances to save wear and tear to the floor. Whether or not it will be used for pep assemblies has not yet been decided. ,P. After all the time, money and hard work that have gone into the construction, it is expected of the students to take care of it by using proper shoes on the new floor, and hopefully trying to keep it clean. Along with the gym, new locker rooms, and new trophy cases have been constructed as the old ones have been filled to make room for the accomplishments of years to come. A word from MrJPetersen: "In our new gym we felt that our patrons would prefer chair type seats which are being installed. They are quite expensive (and quite comfortable) and we hoped our patrons will help us cover the cost by purchasing a seat. Our offer is that patrons would do- nate $100.00. For that they would have their name engraved on one of the chair seats plus receive a free Booster Club membership (regularly $ 1 0.00 which allows a $ 1 .00 discount for every MHS event for the member and accompanying child.) Students may also wish to purchase a chair but tiie cost would be the same." Please contact the school if youd like to have a seat with your name on it |
