Show TEMPLAR TRUMPET, THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 1999 PAGE 10 Put on an armor of By: Christa Hampton Im coolest. As you go through You wake up one morning, your day you realize that you really are the coolest. You have a 4.0 GPA, you're student body president, ou were voted best personality in your class, and slowly get out of bed, and get dressed. You go upstairs and look in the mirror. WOW! I look great! You then realize that you have lost ten pounds and your outfit is new. You finish getting ready and you go to school. You w alk through the big doors, and into the building of kids that are all too good to be your friends. You begin to walk down the hall to your locker, and you realize that you are turning heads. To your amazement, people are actually saying hi to you. This is Great! Finally people get the fact that you are president of every club. You are on top of the w orld! But as your day goes on. you realize that you have way too many responsibilities and no time to take care of them all. You get so stressed out that you feel like you are going to go are crazy. You running everywhere trying to get things done. Franticly, you make phone calls and talk to teacher until you actually go crazy. Then the worst thing in the Values: more than just a class for Freshmen 1 By: Jed Rasmussen Heloooooo student body and Freshman! So how is everything going this year? I hope that all is well. A lot has happened this year already. For instance, we have the best football team in all of 2A and we are ranked in the Top 25 of the state, volleyball is on their way to the state playoffs, tennis took third in the state, and we have had some pretty good assemblies! We have an awesome school and we should be proud of it. I would like to talk about Values are the principles of right or wrong that we install into our lives. Often we set values for ourselves only to find that we are rationalizing them away. Values should be something we believe in. People often regard values as mere things that we do or will not do. They are more than that. Values are part of our lives. Everywhere we turn we run into our values. Should I cheat on a test? Should I sluff next class period? Should I be nice or mean to girls today? Do not rationalize! Set your values high now, and once you have set your values, make sure that you follow them. After all, what are good values, if you say one thing and do another? In closing, go out your way to stick up for what you believe in, help others, and be sure to smile and say, Hi to brighten someones day. As Marcus Aurelius once said, If it is not right, do not do it, if it is not true, do not say it. Stick to your values like Mr. Ockey something that is called sticks values. Well what are values? to his Gobbledygook. phrase, self-confiden- ce world happens...your hair goes flat. Just as your about to kick someone over, you wake up. Was that a dream or a nightmare? You look at your alarm clock and it says 6:30, time to get up. You get out of bed, change into your same old clothes, and w'alk upstairs. You look into the mirror and see the same person you always have seen. Puffy eyes, messy hair, and really bad breath. You get ready and go to school. You are walking down the hall, youre not turning heads, and only a few people actually saying hi to you. You are a loser! As you are dwelling in your selfpitty, you see your friends sitting in a group down the hall. You sit next to them and begin to talk about your day. Then you realize that your really not a loser. You are just as important and as needed as anyone in your school, you just have different ways of excelling. Your GPA is 3.6, youre the president of only one club.and you won a coloring contest in the third grade. But all of these things make up who you are. We all worry about not adding up, or not being good enough. We try so hard to be successful, to have the most money, or to be the best known person in the world. We seem to forget that being the coolest isnt all that matters in the world. We all have talents and capabilities that make us individuals. If we were all to excel in the same things the world would be a boring, dull place. Find out w ho you are, what you are doing, and never change. James Van Praagh once said, We have all been placed on this earth to discover our own path, and we will never be happy if we live someone elses idea of life. Letter to the editor: would like to address an issue, that has become a major part of my life lately. It has to do with gossip, rumors, back stabbing and back biting. Since Ive been in high school, Ive had to deal with this a lot. I was always taught that if you didnt hear it first hand, then you probably shouldnt believe what was said. It is also my belief that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and right to choose their menus. since l ve oeen at mhs people nave tnea to take tnat ngnt trom me. I dont believe the gossip and rumors that people spread. I try to form my own opinions about people and wish others could do the same. I think that if we would all worry about major issues like, grades, teen pregnancy, drug abuse, and violence, which is something we ?ould all pitch in and help with. I think our society would be much better off. I Sincerely, B. Wright Pro Digital Videoneeds. For all your Video Are you looking for a great Christmas gift? Let us help you out.
