"T Time said This college is large enough to serve you, small enough to know you. In a rural community, we see a great century of progress from the horse and buggy days to the jet age, what a great time to have so many special memories. Now, as we are going into a new millenium, we can only hope the future will be as great as the past. The people of Ephraim and other Sanpete communities have a special place in our hearts, nestled among the hills in our unique location. Living here, our life is an inspiration, our memories are a benediction forever, as time marches on. Maybelle P. Frandsen, Mt. Pleasant marches on - Noyes remembrances Take me home again, to the valley of the hills. Let me dream again of my early life 2 12 blocks east on College Avenue, in Ephraim wherre I spent my early growing-u- p years in a small rock house. My footsteps are now covered by a new modem building on the Snow College campus. Yes, the Noyes building was a special neighbor, just a hop, skip and a jump away. In the 1920s, this was where the reading, w riting and arithmetic elementary school was held, on the first floor. Recess was fun on the swings, hopscotch, and jump the rope. As we would roller skate around the wooden swinging gates around the east and west ends of campus. We only had to jog a couple of blocks to Junior and Senior High School. As time marches on, these buildings are now gone to the past, and replaced by new ones. Across from the old high school in a small church, it was off to seminary, and guess who that special teacher was? It was Newton E. Noyes. I remember how humble and patient he was. He showed a special love for all his students and had a unique foresight for future education. His memory is a special symbol; he was really a true pioneer for education. This special building at Snow College bears his name. It has now Sanpete Sheriff Booking Report Well miss Don To the Editor: I been restored. Does it look like these kids are having fun anymore? I have a lot of questions after seeing an accident like this. Did the parents try to get these kids to wear helmets? Do they even own helmets? Will these kids, after their bruises have healed, jump back on another heeler next Spring and go tearing through the hills unprotected? I dont have the answers to any of these questions. 4-- Similar arguments could be made for people who wear seat belts religiously, and those who do not. People who wear their seat belts usually live to tell the story, and those who do not, well, you know the answer. The question, then, is this, how many deaths will it take? until we learn from our mistakes, and the mistakes of our friends, children? If you are a parent, and if you own a or motorcycle, or your teenager does, I dont care what THEY say, make them wear a helmet. Tell them you dont care if their cool cowboy iriei-dcall them geeks. Make it a requirement of their privilege to ride. Anything less will cost you grief untold in the future, I guarantee it. s THE IYI ANTI THE ESSENGER USPSff Ephraim USPS 3284-000- 0 1777-200- 0 Inc. 1999.
