Pretti, daughter of Ted and Phyllis Pretti of Ogden, has received the American Cancer Society fellowship for the second consecutive year to conduct cancer research at the University of Colorado in Boulder. She is majoring in molecular, cellular and developmental biology. DEGREE EARNED: Cathy Jane Morton, daughter of Dr. Edward and Jeane B. Morton of Ogden, will receive a master’s degree in education from Westminister College. She received a bachelor’s degree in family and human development from UtahState University and an early childhood education teaching certificate from Weber State College. She is a second-grade teacher at Columbia Elementaryin Kaysville. DEAN’S LIST: Mark Russell Belanger, son of Russell and Susan Belanger of Ogden, has been named to the dean’s list for spring semester at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales. DOCTORATE DEGREE: Kent Everett Snider, son ofEffie Snider of South Ogden and the late Lee F. Snider, received a law degree from Santa Clara University in California. He received an associate degree from Weber State College in respiratory therapy and allied health sciences and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Utah. He is employed with LawOffices of Elliott Levine in Salt Lake City. SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS: Utah high school students won nine of 10 Presidential Honors Scholarships awarded for 1992 by Weber State University. The educational grants, worth up to $13,752 over a four-year period, were chosen from a field of 94 candidates. Awards were based on ACT scores, grade point average and interviews with faculty and staff. Recipients are: Chad A. Bartiett of Davis High School, son of Judith P. Richards and Steven K. Bartlett of Kaysville. Jonn B. Haws of Roy High School, son of Debi and Greg W Haws of Hooper. Melissa Marker of Weber High School, daughter of Diane and Melvin Marker of Pleasant View. Kathryn A. Maughan of Roy High School, daughter of Rona L. and Willard Z. Maughan of Roy Megan Nelson of Davis High School, daughter of Cecily and Glade Nelson of Kaysville Joseph Snyder of Bear River High School, son of Rosemary and Vernon Snyder of Brigham City Howard Stoker of Bonneville High School, son of Sharon anc Stephen Stoker of Ogden. Also receiving scholarships were Viewmont High School students Angela D, Didericksen and Nathan D. Harrison, both of Centerville AWARD RECIPIENT:Jodi Bailey has been selected by Weber State University to receive the “Out- standing Student Award”presented annually by the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants Bailey received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Weber State University, had a 4.0 GPA in the master’s program and is a member of Phi Kappa Phi She is the budget and financeoffit for Wasatch Cache National Forest. She will be employed this Roundy summer as an auditor with the General Accounting Office in Washington, D.C. AWARD RECIPIENTS: Two area students were recently recognized for outstanding achievement in the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at Utah State University. Jeff Chugg, son of M. Brent and Myrl Chugg of North Ogden, was named “Student of the Year” by the Department of Languages and Snider Snyder th Stoker Scott Roundy, formerly of Roy, recently received a doctorate degree in medicine from the Uniform Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md. He graduated cum laude from Weber State College with a bachelor’s degree in integrated studies. Lt. Roundywill do an internship in psychiatry at the National Medical Center in San a Haws Nelson Diego. He is the son of CharleyA. and Jolene Jones of Roy and Michael H. Roundyof Eden. AWARD RECIPIENT: David Ingram of Ogden wasrecently named “Student of the Phase” Electronic Technology Universal Technical Institute in Phoenix. The course is part of the UTI’s combined automotive/diesel technology. Maughan Marker SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT: Nicole Dickamore, a Weber High School senior, was recently selected to receive the 1992 Phi Delta Kappa Scholarship Grant for Prospective Educators. She is the daughter of Lee and Tamara Dickamore of Farr West. She was i one of45 seniors selected to receive the $1,000 grant. Bartlett ‘DEGREE AWARDED: Shelley Owens Domingues, daughter of Emmett and Jean Owens of Eden and Glenna Gale Owens of Roy, received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the Metropolitan State College in Denver. Sheis a graduate of the Police Academy in Golden, Colo. and is employed as a police officer for Arvada, Colo, Philosophy. He is a senior major- ing in Spanish. David Reeder, son of Hal and Deon Reeder of Brigham City, was named “Outstanding Broadcast Student” in the Department of Communication. He is a senior majoring in journalism with emphasis in broadcasting. DEGREE RECIPIENTS: The following students have completed requirements for master’s degrees at Utah State University. Catherine J. Schwaegler, Roy, in communicative disorders. She received a bachelor’s degree in communicative disorders from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. She works as a speech/language therapist for the Weber County School District. Fisher, Ogden, in computer science. He received a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Utah and a bachelor’s degree in business from Weber State College. DOCTORATE DEGREE: Jean Ann Dabb, daughter of Ray and Elaine Dabb of North Ogden, received her doctorate degree in art history from the University of Michiganat Ann Arbor. A graduate of Weber State College, she received a master’s degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. STATE CONTEST WINNERS: Two Box Elder students received first place in the Utah PTAReflecuuons Contest. Their entries have been selected to represent Utah in the National PTA Contest. They were recently honored at a banquet at the Capitol with Gov. Norm Bangeter. Seth Olsen, 11, a Fielding Elementary fifth grader, took first place in literature. His parents are Ronald and Carol Olsen of Collinston Brett Griffin, 6, a Lincoln Elementary first grader, took first place in photography.
