We just failed to get the key hit, when we needed it. Gary Anderson pitched a great game for us, and our whole team played well. Coach Thompson may have been referring to the second inning, when Roy had runners on second and third and only one man out. Roys Chris Colohan rapped a line di;ive that skipped off the mitt of Cory Sylvestors mitt, but an alert short stop, Jeff g McFarland made a catch of the ball, and doubled off the Roy man, who was streaking for second base to end the inning and the threat. Weber left four men stranded on base, and the Royals left three on base. The biggest hit of the game came with one man out, coaches, umpires and league officials. Gary Anderson pitched a great game for Roy. He struck out seven Lakers, and gave up only four hits. The one hit that beat the Royals, came off the bat of Mike Wilson, in the second inning, with a runner at second base. The throw to home plate was close, but it meant the ball game. The Lakers committed no errors in the close-fouggame. Sylvestor pitched a masterful game, and his team played great defense behind him. He faced only 23 Royal batters, but struck out only four of them. The rest were cut down after making contact at the plate or were caught between bases. Sylvestor is presently being recruited by two professional baseball teams. He is also being sought after by major for his talents in baseball, football and basketball. Robert Kirkwood and Ron Halbert collected Roys only hits in the battle against Bonneville. Kirkwood was at third base with the tying run, when McFarland put the Royals out of business, with his fantastic catch of the line drive, deflected by Sylvestor at the mound.
