HANSEN By Emery Jr FFA Reporter The 72nd annual Utah State was held at SW in Cedar City. Registration was Thursday, March 16. That afternoon, the state contests for Creed Speaking, Prepared Public Speaking, Extenip Speaking and Parliamentary Procedure were held. Students were allowed to watch the contests or they could attend different workshops that were being presented. This year some of the workshop presenters included motivational speaker, John FFA Convention Paul Murphy; Carol Spruill, National 1TA Southern Region Vice President, and Ray Starling, Past National FFA Officer. The theme for this years convention was Get A Life! Members of the chapter served as voting delegates and served on the state Chapter Records and the POA Committees. The Emery Jr. Heather Hansen Local FFA members enjoyed the 72nd annual Utah State FFA (r) accepts 3rd place Food For America Award. Convention at SUU. Chapter received 3rd place for Outstanding Food for America Program, along with a $50 check. The Chapter also received as a State Superior Chapter. To receive the Superior Chapter award the chapter is required to complete one activity in each of five quality standards in the three development divisions. Kortnie Anderson sang as the FFA entertainment on Friday during the third general session. The Chapter won 1st place in the Chapter Display Contest. Their display will represent the state of Utah in the Hall of States" at the National FFA Convention this fall recog-nirio- n in Louisville, Kentucky. Mr. Bill Dellos was honored with a Distinguished Service Award for his many years of teaching vocational agriculture. Mr. Dellos retired from the Emery Jr. Chapter last year after teaching for 39 years. The Emery Jr. Chapter is the only Jr. FFA Chapter in the state of Utah. Mr. Bill Dellos was presented with a "Distin- guished Service Award" for teaching Vocd-tionAgriculture for 39 years.
