' ; ) on August beginning each evening at dusk. j j. The Casde Valley Pageant : was first conceived in the mind and heart of Montell , ; ; Seely, who wanted to tell the I story of the first setders to Emery County. He wanted to touch the minds and hearts , of Emery County residents ; ; ; j today, and give them an appreciadon for the early efforts to setde this valley. The first pageant was performed on August 11, j 1978. Since that first product tion, the pageant has growrjA into an elaborate production.,; A Pioneer Village has als6v been started where die r visitors can learn of early pioneer skills, and taste fresh milk straight from the cow. homemade bread and ice cream are also sampled. Castle Valley was called Blow Valley by early Indians in the area, and the valley was avoided by the Black Hawk Indians because of the wind, and the claim that the water gave their women big necks. , Brigham Young issued a ; I call for the settling of Emery County on August 22, 1877,1 A few setders answered the! call and left Sanpete Valley to ; setde here.
