Show Emery County Progress, Castle Dale, Utah Tuesday, August 1,2000 7 A Habitat for Humanity host bike rodeo in Green River Green River, Utah, was one of the stops for 28 young people participating in the Habitat Bicycle Challenge (HBC) 2000. Habitat for Humanity of Castle Country (Emery and Carbon Counties) was the host affiliate for the group who pedaled their way from Moab the morning of July 21. This is one of our shorter milage days, commented Sarah, onq of the four HBC leaders. The bikers were greeted by Pasjor and Mrs., Kirk and Paula, Durham and family of the Green Rivtr Bible Church who had arranged housing for their over nigjit stay. The Church loaned kitfhen facilities and dining roojn for Fridays dinner and a breakfast on Saturday before the bikers pedaled off into Capitol Reef. This summer, a group (of 60 college students) is pedaling 4,CtoO miles across North America in an effort to raise money and awareness for Habi-tat.f- odyssey go to New Haven Habitat for Humanity, one of whose major projects is the student-ruCollegiate Build. Money will also be donated to Habitat Chapters in New Haven Sister Cities across the world including the home to be built in Castle Dale. Then we pedal on through the afternoon, stopping southern Canada and finish in Vancouver, Canada. The southern route bikers travel Americas heartland through 12 states and end the nine challenging weeks when the group triumphantly crosses the Golden Gate Bridge into San Francisco. The HBC has at least 14 major brand name sponsors and was originated at Yale University.
