Congressman Chris Cannon, his wife Claudia and their daugh-ter Cate attended the recent Lincoln Day dinner at the John Wesley Powell Museum in Green River. The annual Republican dinner gathered party members from throughout the area. In return for the added opportunity afield, hunters pledge to donate eight hours of volunteer service and attend a Regional Wildlife Advisory Council meeting or other wildlife education course annually. The fee for the three-yeprogram is $180 for adults and $105 7 for youth from years of age. Courses are offered across the state. In the Southeastern re EAGLE SCOUT Boe Jensen Garrett McMullin Boe has accomplished his goal Garrett McMullin has been selected as the Civil and Environmental Engineering Outstanding Junior at Utah State University. Garrett currently has a 3.988 GPA. He will complete his requirements for a Bachelors Degree in May, 2002, and the requirements for a Masters Degree in May of 2003. He is the vice president of the Student Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the treasurer of the Engineering Honor Society, Tau Beta Pi. Garrett is employed at the Utah Water Research Laboratory where he builds models and sets up and tests hydraulic devices. of obtaining his Eagle in the He is married to Tamarie. He is the son of Mark McMullin of Cleveland, and Joan Smith of Ferron. Scouting Program. His service project was organizing the installation of sod around the new park in Elmo. Boe appreciates all of the help from the community. His Court of Honor will be held on March 11. Boe is the third son of Lavar and Phyllis Jensen of Elmo. Boe is the grandson of Larna W. Jensen and Gerene G. Jones also of Elmo. Boe has three younger brothers. Among his many talents, Boe plays the piano and organ. His plans are to become an electrical engineer and go on a mission for his church. Boe currently serves as chairman on the Stake Youth Council. The College of Eastern Utah Sun Center completed 43 projects, 2,419 hours of service around the community with the help of 296 volunteers last semester. Some of the projects they were involved In were: the Tour of Terror Spook Alley, Mentoring, Santa Fundraisers, Castle Country Care Center, and numerous others. volFor the unteers travel to other states to do service in other communities. In the past years, they have traveled to Spring-Break-Awa- y, - Portland. Oregon, Bakersfield, California, and to Navajo Reservations. Fbr spring semester, the Sun Center has arranged various activities. One of the activities planned is Newborns in Need. The project provides baby items to hospitals and individuals which need assistance during the year. Occasionally, parents of newborns do not have the means to provide their child with the necessary items to keep the baby healthy. They are in need of receivingblankets, quilts, sleepers, and toys. The Sun Center is offering a class to students for one to three credit hours. A student must volunteer 18 hours to receive one credit hour. The Center is seekingvolunteers. They fy'- have arranged other new projects - where volunteer assistance is needed. On Feb. 22, they hosted a AXS&M&aoM volunteer conference entitled, . '2,125 per mo. 1,508 per mo. projects that are happening and what kind of volunteer help is needed for the following year. Everyone is needed in some way to help some one.
