Show Emery County Progress CastieOale, Utah Tuesday March 6, 2001 Marilyn Fauver and Sheri Marsh prepare dresses for shipping Comm nun fifty joins forces for hymaimiftariaini projecft In an effort to foster unity in the community and to provide service to those in need, the Castle Dale LDS Stake is sponsoring a humanitarian aide project which will culminate on April 7. Organizers of the event hope to collect 2000 dresses of all sizes for women and girls in need. Donated dresses need to be clean, durable and in good repair. The women and girls that this project will serve mostly wrear dresses and do their wash in streams over rocks, so durability is vital. There is a great need for smaller dresses for the children. On April 7, beginning at 10 a.m. at the pavilion by the Stake Center in Castle Dale, volunteers will be boxing up the collected dresses, making simple dresses, tying some double quilts and assembling basic hygiene kits. All w'omen ages 12 and up are encouraged to participate in this event. Lunch will be provided. The boxed items will then be delivered to Deseret Industries, where they will be shipped to the Humanitarian Service Center in Salt Lake City. The Humanitarian Service Center is an organization that dis tributes goods of all kinds to areas of needs. The service center is also in need of receiving blankets, cloth diapers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, bars of soap, shampoo, hand tow'els and fabric for dresses and quilts. As you cgn guess, there is never enough to fill the need and all donations are greatly appreciated.
