Show Emery County Progress Castle Dale, Utah Tuesday January 29, 2002 3B Canyon View recognizes Top Cat Achievers Canyon View Jr. High Sehool recently held their second term Top Cat Achievers larty. Almost 100 students participated in WWW games, music and prizes and each received a certificate. The students have to earn a required number of points in accelerated reading, honor roll, citizenship, attendance, and community service. The students in each grade that received the highest amount of top cat points were: Camille Fehlberg 7th grade, Miles Sherman 8th grade and Kyan Dennis 9th grade. The Top Cat Achievers program is funded through Emery Telcom. 7th Grade achievers were: Kassie Allred, Dallas Allred, Wacey Allred, Shanda Atwood, Wendy Butterfield, Nicholas Cox, Jennie Dennis, Kaysea Dudley, Adriana Duran, Kelsi Ekker, Lacey Erickson, Karen Espino, Jacie Fhsselin, Camille Fehlberg, Dal Guymon, Ashton Hansen, Haylie Hansen, Lyndi Jensen, Tabitha Kenner, Ashley Larson, Amy Lofley, Nicole Mogensen, Tiffany Olsen, Ren Owen, Kenneth Peterson, Kylie Richins, Jessie Shelton, and Andy Sitterud. 8th Grade achievers were: Paul Arnold, Bruce Bell, Aaron Devereaux, Klint Eastman, Jennifer Tucker 8th grade, Kylie Richins 7th grade won the spelling bee for their grades, Richins took the school title as well. Moiiensen, Brittany Mortensen, Canyon View Junior High Spelling Bee Winners Even though The Deseret News cancelled their annual state spelling bee because of the 2002 Olympics, the Emery School District decided to continue the tradition on a district level. Canyon View 7th and 8th grade English classes conducted class spelling bees to select three participants for the school spelling bee held on Jan. 18. Seventh graders, Kylie Richins and Jacie Fasselin battled for first place with the result of Kylie Richins taking the school title as well as 7th grade winner. Jennifer Tucker won the 8th grad spot. They, along with 8th grade alternate, Matt Mogensen, will attend the district spelling bee at Emery High School. Her academic interests are geography, math, and science. She enjoys participating as a cheerleader. She is a Top Cat Achiever, and on the honor roll. Kyle says he wants to be an engineer w hen he grows up. Dustin Hansen JcTtland Klcmentar Dustin Hansen of Elmo has been named student of the week. He is the son of Corey and Jill M. Hansen. Dustin enjoys school and especially participating in football at Canyon View. He holds Stacy Jensen The spotlight this week is on Stacy Jensen. When Stacy grows up, she wants to be a dentist. April Moosman April Moosman has been chosen as student of the week. She is the daughter of Boyd and leadership positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of -Day Saints, and is a memYouth ber of the Cleveland-Elm- o Council. He is an Eagle Scout. His hobbies are helping his dad on the farm, playingsports, and just hanging out with his Latter- . ! friends.
