SOMETHING ELSE that has paved a pretty consistent track record in recent years is the winning tradition of the Layton High womens basketball team. Its almost a sure thing, year in and year out, that the Lady Lancers will finish among the top eight teams in the state. 4 In glancing at the team, it appears that Brent Checketts and Lincoln Hatch have things under control again. The Lady Vikings are three5-- time champions of the Womens Intermountain Collegiate Athletic Conference (WICAC) and a second-plac- e finisher regionally last year. In total, the 1984 team is made up of seven sophomores and five freshmen. The Ricks College team is coached by interim mentor Shari Wakefield (regular coach, JoAnn Reeve is serving an LDS Church mission).
