FAVORITE Virginia Ashton likes to prepare a spaghetti salad which will stay fresh for several days when refrigerated. Other holiday favorites includ fudge and cookies, both of which make favorite gifts for friends and neighbors. RECIPE Pasta Salad; Tangy and Spicy 4 .1 By KATHRYN JENNINGS t. Virginia Ashton has always ; ", enjoyed cooking up a meal and special recipes for family and friends. Italian dressing 8 oz. can of tomato sauce 5' j -- 12 oz. pkg. Z ; ; Z can mushrooms, chopped, drained 1 n hi 4-- z. cup onion, diced Vi cup celery, chopped Vi cup Schilling salad seasoning 1 medium cucumber, peeled and chopped Vi COOK AND drain the spaghetti and set aside. Mix remaining ingredients, use the tomato sauce as desired for taste after all seasoning ingredients are mixed, toss with the cooked spaghetti until well coated. Place in bowl, cover and refrigerate for 24 to 48 hours, before serving. Virginia says that you can keep this salad up to 5 days if kept refrigerated. This salad recipe was sent to Mrs. Ashton from friends in Michigan and is now a favorite of her friends. NO COOK FUDGE 2 boxes of confectioners sugar 1 12-o- z. jar peanut butter, chunky type 2 Tbsp. vanilla 13 sticks margarine 3 cup cocoa MELT MARGARINE, add vanilla and set aside. Mix sugar and cocoa, then add margarine, vanilla, peanut butter to the sugar and cocoa and mix Vi well. Pressed into greased 9x13 inch pan and refrigerate until the fudge is firm, cut and serve. CHRISTMAS SAND TART COOKIES 4 cups flour, sifted V2 lb. butter or margarine 2 eggs 2 cups sugar 2 tsp. vanilla MIX SOFTENED butter and flour, until blended, then add sugar with well beaten eggs, add vanilla and mix well. Stir in sugar, syrup, salt, bring to a boil, stirring. Boil five minutes without stirring. Remove from heat; stir in soda and vanilla. It will foam. Pour over warm popped com and mix well. It is best to have the popped com warm. Turn into a shallow baking pan. Bake in oven 250 deg. for one hour, stirring every ten minutes. Re- move from oven and cool. Break apart. Heat the popped com in the warm oven while the syrup is cooking. PEANUT BUTTER MARSHMALLOW BARS V cup margarine Vi pound marshmallows 12 cup peanut butter 5 cups dry cereals - such as Kix, Cheerios, com flakes ? them often for her family. Place cereal and nuts in a large bowl. Stir in melted marshmallow mixture. Blend well, press lightly in a greased 9 inch by 9 inch pan. cup coconut cup nuts 1 cup miniature marshmallows 3 packages of butterscotch pieces 1 Tbsp. peanut butter MELT BUTTERSCOTCH pieces in double boiler. Add peanut butter. Mix com flakes, marshmallows, coconut, nuts in a large bowl. Pour melted butterscotch pieces over other ingredients. Pour into a but1 tered pan, cool and cut in squares. PEANUT BUTTER CANDY CRISPIE CRUNCH 6 cups com flakes 3 cups Rice Krispies chips 1 cup coconut butter Vi cup nuts pound marshmallows square margarine 1 2 packages butterscotch ii cup chunky peanut 1 cup coconut 1 cup nuts 3 cups corn flakes or Wheaties IN A HEAVY saucepan, melt marshmallows and margarine. Put cereals in a large bowl, add the coconut and nuts. Pour melted marshmallow over cereals and mix thoroughly. Break apart and serve it in a large bowl.
