THE SCIENCE fair at We- ber State College was held Feb. 23. In the seventh grade, Mike Gedris received a trophy in biological science. Mike Alex, Matt Greer and Terese Pedersen were awarded trophies, and an honorable mention was given to Jason Barnes, for earth science projects. Susie Flint and Shiela Johns received medical and dental trophies. In the eighth grade, earth science category, trophies were given to Tony Butterfield and Brian Pennock, and an honorable mention to Adrienne Scott. Keri Tucker received an honorable mention in the medical and dental division. IN THE ninth grade, Craig Dahl earned a first place special award including a junior engineering certificate and a bronze medallion. Leesha COOKIE TIME AGAIN The very first. Girl Scout cookie was a vanilla shortbread, baked in the shape of the Girl Scout insignia, the trefoil. Its still a favorite, but over the years, the Girl Scouts have added lots more tasty cookies to the selection. Posters made by first-yestudents were displayed throughout the school; the cafeteria was colorfully decorated, and menus were written in Spanish and French. Foods from foreign countries were served. On Monday, slides ar from Spanish and French speaking countries were shown. TUESDAY WAS and badge day , with students wearing shirts and badges to advertise their favorite language. Wednesday featured costumes from different countries, and Spanish and French songs were sung during both lunches. Thursday, foreign film day, gave the foreign language classes the chance to see films from foreigh countries. The week will end Friday, with cultural arts day, featuring arts, crafts, and cuisine from various countries. During the whole week, a treasure hunt was conducted. Each morning the two language teachers, Mr. Decker and Mrs. Dibble, gave clues in French or Spanish over the loud speaker, helping students to find the treasure.
