Show I ( 4 WEEKLY i3 NEWS JOURNAL, NORTH DAVIS LEADER, FEBRUARY 4, 1982 REFLEX-D- AY Chamber Honors Barlow For Phone Efforts The North Davis Chamber of Commerce Assoc, has publicly congratulated State Sen. Haven Barlow for his successful fight to obtain telephone service for northern Davis County residents. THE VICTORY, according to Pres. Hersh Ipakt-chiawill not only be a boon to the many thousands of residents but w ill also benefit county officials and local Chambers in attracting businesses wishing to locate here, an association news release says. In a letter to the senator, the president said, We recognize that your fight was not easy and that at times you probably felt as if it were a one-ma- n effort. And yet you can take pride in the fact that you were successful. It will soon be nice for us to pick up the telephone... and make a local, call to someone more than three miles away. n, The New Concept Furniture Company has outgrown its present location and will soon be moving into a more spacious store in order to serve customers better. THE NEW service will go into effect Feb. 7, enabling residents and businesses to dial varied locations in Salt Lake City and Ogden without the longdistance" charge. Under the previous system, for instance, Kaysville and Fruit Heights residents could not call south of the Farmington area or north of the Clearfield area without being charged at longdistance rates. Monthly charges will increase slightly under the new system and rate structure, but the costs are slim compared to the monthly charges necessary for businesses and most residents. THE NEW store is located at 80 W. Gentile, Layton. This was formerly the B and B De- partment Store. Doors will open at this expanded location from 10 on Monday, Feb. a.m. until 6 p.m. New Concept Furniture has been in business in Layton just over three years. They opened Oct. 1978 at 581 N. Sen. Barlow spearheaded the effort and appeared at numerous hearings, offering testimony that northern county residents deserved a better break from telephone officials. j Keven Schofield and Bill McCausland both operate the Four SXEASONS Sales Corp. in Kavsville.
