Blood defeated Smith for the heavyweight win in the dual match between the tw'o clubs. WEIGHTS H-E-A-- Chris Cardinet manhandles his Bountiful opponent and though Chris came out a victor in that match, it wasnt enough to bring the entire Bountiful team to the ground. Bountiful scored some key victories in the lighter weights and finally came out a victor over the Davis Darts. Cardinet enters the Region Four championships this week at the 132 pound weight. Dickson Readies Story and Pictures by Keith Duncan His Grapplers For Region Four Tournament Darts Number One Seeds For Region Tournament Come Thusday morning in KAYSVILLE Bountiful, six generals will have gathered their troops on the hill for an all out war on the wrestling mats. THE BATTLE, which is to be fought for the rights to the Region Four wrestling championship, will include some young and old in the front lines. The young and brave have to include the likes of Davis High's Shaun Robinson who as a sophomore v'ent through the region dual competition undefeated and enters Thursdays meet as the top seed. Unmistaken on the battle front are also the old stalwarts who have been in these kind of wars before. Davis has a couple of those in Robert Steed and Cary Blood who also enter Thursdays affair as No. 1 seeds. Gen. Jim Dickson is one of those six team leaders wholl be found pumping up his troops all day Thursday. Unlike most battles. Thursdays clash of Region Four teams will start early that morning and wont be over until late that evening. In other words this will be an all out affair that plans to last the whole day long. Merrill is the favorite to win at that wieght come region tourney time. FOR THOSE who plan on watching the clash, be in your seats at least by 10 a.m. The championship round gets underway at 7 p.m. that evening and you'll for sure not want to miss that. Davis Dickson said in the beginning of this week that the title was up for grabs in his opinion. And though Viewmont, led by General Steve Sanderson, might be considered a slight favorite after going 0 in dual competition, Dickson still likes the tfmthts that the championship has a chance of being the Darts. 5-- BESIDES Robinson at 98 lbs.. Steed at 185 lbs., and Blood at heavyweight, the Dart front line will consist ofMikeGerrardat 105 lbs., Mike Price at 112 lbs., Roger Reynard at 1 19 lbs., Darren Rujin at 126 lbs., Chris Cardinet checking in at 132 lbs., Ben Knowlton filling the 138 lbs. slot, Nate Hinkley taking the 145 lbs. spot, the ever present Bruce Frod-shamastering the 155 lbs. position and Troy Meacham taking over at 167. Future years of Davis High wrestling took a turn for the good as the Dart sophomores edged out Viewmont for the team title in the Region Four sophomore tournament held last Saturday at Woods Cross High School. Referee Gary Hansen gets a chance to clarify some things between Kim Peterson of Bountiful and Jim Dickson of Davis. m THE FIRST place winners were three in number. They included Jeff Hammer at 145 lbs., Todd Anderson at 167 lbs. and Shaun Kilgrow at 185 lbs. Mike Gerrad, wholl be in the varsity lineup come Thursday, took second in the 105 lbs. bracket. The other second place finishers included Greg Johnson at 1 19 lbs., Paul Howard at 126 lbs. The third place finishers were Andy Coulter at 132 lbs., Jay Perkins at 138 lbs., Greg McNabb at 155 lbs. and Rody Meacham at the ulimit weight. The fourth place finisher was Derek Gregg at 98 lbs. DAVIS FINISHED with 155 points while the mont Vikings ended up with 140 Vi points. Dickson has blended some talent and experience on his Davis team to make them a solid contender for the Region Four Wrestling title this Thursday in Bountiful.
