Misconceptions About The IRS Over the years, many taxpayers have come to believe as fact some misconceptions about the Internal Revenue Service. Unfortunately, these misconceptions cause tax- payers needless apprehension and worry. THE IRS is a large agency, and the tax law is complex -a combination which' might baffle the average person. The following, hopefully, may serve to dispel some of the common misconceptions: Using the peel-of- f address label will trigger an audit. The coding on the label actually just speeds up processing. It helps in identifying taxpayers and the kind oi forms contained in the tax package they receive; it is not an audit indicator. :k'i 'J ONCE "audited, always' audited.
