Show I WEEKLY REFLEX DAVIS NEWS JOURNAL, NOVEMBER 22, 1979 tSSB Here's what people say about the school leeway election t; We need to maintain a viable education system for our youth. Were losing our federal impact aid funds. Like the other Wasatch Front districts Salt Lake, Jordan, Ogden and Granite, we need to have a voted leeway. Keith Warner The loss of $1.1 million in federal impact funds and threatened loss of more will make it impossible for Davis County to maintain the high quality educational system that I want for my children and grandchildren. Vote FOR this proposition. James Brough If we fail to support the school leeway proposal, our children may find themselves in larger classes at school Even the best teachers have difficulty meeting the needs of students in crowded classes. Ardith E. Kapp The special mill levy election November 27 is the best of the available alternatives, and will cost less on the long term. Vote for it. Glenn Goodrich All our income taxes and a lot of our sales taxes go into the state school fund. If we vote FOR on November 27th, well be putting a lot of that tax money to use here in Davis County for Davis County kids. Phyllis Southwick We parents have always supported education in Davis County. in Weve voted as high as support of school bond elections. Its no time to quit on our kids now. This leeway vote is needed. Lynn Burton 19-to- -l More words on the subject: Our schools are among Davis Countys greatest assets. They are great because we' as voters have never turned down a bond issue or school proposal. We encourage your affirmative votes. Without this continued support our schools will be unable to help prepare our children to reach their highest potential. Stanley M. and Mary Ellen Smoot r In general, I am opposed to a percentage increase in taxes and also worry that our school districts have relied a little too much on federal help. An efficient, well run educational system, however, is g essential to our and future progress. It is because of this that I will vote to accept the proposed four mill increase in property taxes. Mark Eubank well-bein- As a private citizen who is able to look objectively at the school program in Davis County, I am convinced that the leeway proposal is necessary to maintain and education for our improve quality children. I A good education is of paramount importance for our young people in todays world. The leeway program is an essential, not a luxury. Douglas L. Comaby l ?! s I am voting for the leeway levy because its absolutely necessary not to minimize our fine educational programs. Lets not take a step back, but look ahead. Morris Hansen Former School Board member , Robert Keddington No investment is too much for our children. They are our whole future. Meg Mayer I think there are some good things coming out of the tax rebellion, but across the board cutting of everything could leave our schools in terrible condition. Our public schools are a good investment and use of our dollars. Lowell Taylor If everyone understood the issues behind the voted leeway, they would all be in favor of it. The raise in property taxes is nothing to what we will lose in educational programs if it fails to pass. Janice Ridges At a time when we must choose the basic priorities in our family economics, the education of our children is right at the top. Therefore, I support the leeway tax.
