In Layton: Theres No Shooting With the opening of dove season the Layton Police Department has received several complaints about the shooting of firearms within the city. RESIDENTS SHOULD be aware that, according to city ordinance, no firearms may be discharged within the corporate boundaries of Layton City. This includes private property, where in the past, some property owners have hunted or allowed hunting on their property. According to Chief of Police Lamar Chard, the problem has become more acute of continued development. He said that the law is needed for the protection of all residents and there is no longer anyplace in Lay-to- n where one may safely hunt.
