Show WEEKLY REFLEX-DAV- IS NEWS JOURNAL, JULY 1, 1976 MANY TALENTS Shortly after moving to Layton last fall, Arlene Jewkes walked into a craft shop in Layton where the conversation centered on dip and drape, a popular form of craft work. She saw samples of the hobby and began les- sons almost immediately. Since then, she has also developed an interest in tole painting and is currently taking lessons in that area. Shown is a sampling of dip and drape items made by Mrs. Jewkes. THE TALENTED lady created a variety of pieces using different techniques. ceramic elephant, has very realistic grey wrinkled skin because of using tissues in the process. Mrs. Jewkes enjoys her hobbies and as a result, most of her relatives receive handr made gifts. One, in particular, ' Mrs. Jewkes is the wife ofV, Ronald Jewkes who retired from the Navy after 21 years. They were previously stationed in San Pedro, Calif, where Mrs, Jewkes began working in ceramics at the base hobby shop about four years ago. THE JEWKES are both native Utahns, Arlene from Helper and Ronald from and they have four children. Mr. Jewkes is now empoyed by Jetway in Ogden, e, die Mrs. Jewkes is currently taking lessons in tole painting and says that, as with many forms of crafts, the varieties are endless. Arlene Jewkes, of Layton, shows a ceramic piece she made for a relative which resembles his dog. She also works with dip and drape and tole painting.
