His family started streaming through the door, some of whom he hadnt seen for years. His mother flew in from the islands to attend the event and truly when she caught him walked through die door. BYU Coaches, Edwards and Chow complemented Keith on the outstanding job he has done at Snow and said it was a pleasure to join him, even though their car broke down in Fountain Green on the way to the dinner. After enjoying a dinner complete with a football field cake, the Uperesa family went to the basketball game in the Activity Center. At halftime, Snow College Bookstore manager, Frank Montoya, presented Kaipo with a dozen roses and a dinner for two. He gave the coach a commemorative photo and an embroidered jacket. When the evening was over, it was pointed out that the coach had been recognized for doing an outstanding job on the field and winning many ball games, but the fact that he may have one of the highest graduation rates of football players in the country was not mentioned. This spring when its time to don the cap and gown for commencement, 25 of 26 sophomores on the football team will graduate, or have already done so. A 96 percent graduation rate is not unusual for a Uperesa team, yet not necessarily known by many who respect him for his talent with teaching young people how to win football games.
