August 16. 1995 Fourteen to compete for Miss Sanpete MANTI-- - Fourteen contestants will compete for the 1995-9- 6 Miss Sanpete County crown on Saturday, Aug. 19, 7:30 p.m. in the Manti High School Auditorium. Contestants include Elizabeth Dyches, daughter of George and Peggy Dyches, of Moroni. She will perform a vocal solo entitled, "The Way He Makes Me Feel." If chosen, her platform issue will focus on helping teachers and children better understand Attention Deficit Disorder. Emily Cook, daughter of Lynn and Nora Cook, of Moroni, will perform a piano solo entitled, "Humoreske Op. 10, No. 5". Her platform, if chosen, will focus on informing kindergarten through eighth grade about1 domestic violence. Mindy Steadman, daughter of Randy and Jeane Steadman, Sterling, will perform a lyrical jazz routine performed to the song, "One". Safety through Seat Belts would be her platform, if chosen. Angie Pierro, daughter of Steve and Denise Pierro, Ephraim, will focus her platform, if chosen, on a safe environment for Sanpete County children. For her talent, she will perform a piano solo entitled, "Warrior Song". Heather Mae Black, daughter of Mike and Paulette Black, of Grand Junction, CO, will sing "When You Say Nothing At All", with a planned platform entitled, "Sanpete County Kids Care and Are Aware!", if chosen. Kristyn Dyreng, daughter of Allen and Diane Dyreng, Gunni son, will play "Tocatta" on piano. Her platform would be "Turn Off the TV and Turn On Your Life". Kellie Elise Fore, daughter of Paul and Rebecca Fore, Ephraim, will perform a dramatic monoact: "Ophelia", from Hamlet, Act 2 Scene 3. If chosen, her platform issue will be "For the Kids" promoting Christa Lee Sorensen, daughter of Chris and Dana Lee Sorensen, Mt. Pleasant, will perform a piano solo entitled, "Arabeske". If chosen, her platform will be "Child at Risk", concentrating on self-estee- helping these children grow in confidence. Dia Bree Lasater, daughter of Scott and Leslie Skeem, and Gary and Jan Lasater, of Spring City. If chosen, her platform issue would be Fitness for the Future. She will perform a modem interpretative dance to the music of "Egypte". Heather Christenson, daughter of Bruce and Alice Christenson, Gunnison, will perform a piano solo entitled, "Polichinelle in Minor". If chosen, her platform issue would be "Say No to Drugs." F-S- Amy Day is the daughter of Dr. Richard and Lori Nay, Gunnison. She will perform a vocal solo accompanied by a theatre jazz dance entitled, "Paper Moon." If' chosen, her platform will be ' recycling. Tara Sutcliffe, daughter of Brian and Arlene Sutcliffe, Spring City, will be displaying some of her art work which was inspired by her Indian heritage and an old Indian story, transformed into a poem which she will enact behind her drawings. If chosen, her platform issue would be "Sanpete County: Family Holly Dyreng, daughter of Douglas and Valerie Dyreng, Manti. She will perform a piano solo entitled, "Aufschwung". If chosen, her platform will be "The Power of Music", the way music can influence the lives of people. Dionne Peterson, daughter of Keith and Ardella Peterson, Gunnison, will perform a vocal solo, "On My Own", with a platform, if chosen, to usd Utahs Centennial by creating a Sanpete Youth Centennial Choir. Molly Petersen, reigning Miss Sanpete County and Nathan England will be the Mistress and Master of Ceremonies. This year, seating has gone to reserved and can be purchased at the treasurers office or at the door if still available.
