Show City to hold another hearing on annexation application 40-ac- re by C.R. Truitt MT. PLEASANT Mayor Christensen announced another public hearing on a residents annexation request for about 40 acres southwest of town, will be held again after certain legal steps are performed first. He said this meeting should have been held after those steps had been taken after learning just prior to the meeting they had to have a plat for the completed area 30 days prior to a public hearing. He said the city was waiting on the legal description arid the plat. Christensen also told representatives at the meeting, that the city could not create a city island in the county, but he thought a peninsula was okay. The annexation request does create a point of land (peninsula) into the county area. ty DUP news MT. Christensen asked representatives to think about what zoning their properties would fall into. No objections were voiced from the public. The city and residents will continue with the annexation process. The city and the Twin Creek irrigation owners may have reached an agreement that satisfies both groups. In a hard won vote, the council passed a 4 to 1 motion to take over the control and maintenance of the Twin Creek Irrigation systems and allow the 20 irrigation owners a three-yeno maintenance. ar Ftn Green news FOUNTAIN GREEN Foun- tain Green Elementary is now compiling a list of Kindergarten students for Fall of 95. The Twin Creek Irrigation system had been combined effort from the city and residents. The city had put in the mains and helped residents with digging trenches in 1977. The residents were paid for piping and worked in the trenches. In 1979, the Nays were the first to hook on to the system. In other action the Council granted City Power Department Superintendent, Dan Anderson permission to pursue upgrades to power equipment. County resident Richard Tree informed the city council of plans for a group home for four to eight boys, ages 12 to 14. Even though the home is in the county. Family Services advised him to notify the city. Senior Citizens came to work out a proposed lease agreement. President Jon Schuhmann, thought renovation costs too high and said the seniors wanted to put their money in a building more suited to what they needed.
