Leigh Hunt Moroni time for School and Public Health Nurses and the recently appointed nurse for northern Sanpete finds it to be just that. Her schedule this past couple of weeks has included flu shots at senior citizens clinics where 300 shots were given, immunizations of school children, and teaching school children about nutrition, fire safety, etc. Kay Howes a resident of Ftn. Kay was born in Junction, Piute County, and graduated from high school there. She studied nursing at Trade Tech on a scholarship where she received her LPN, Licensed Practical Nurse degree. She has attended other schools and has credits in Utah and in California she says and only needs to get her credits all together to have her RN degree. She has served as' a State Emergency Training Instructor, Heart Association, and American Red Cross instructor for the eight years she was in Piute, and still is with the emergency service here. Kay was Utah EMT Association Presidne tfor the 1981-8year and is now Chairman of the Board of the State EMTs as well as serving on the Mental Health Advisory Board. She is married to Roger Howes, a carpenter and miner, who is building the family a house in Fountain Green now. Roger is also an EMT instructor. The couple have three children, Shane 15 a sophomore at North Sanpete High School, Kendra, seven, in the second grade, and Kami, six, in the first grade both at Fountain Green Elementary. All members of the family like to ride horses, Kay said, and have belonged to riding clubs before they came here. They all like to hunt and are avid fishermen, she said. administered LAKE CITY Sanpete who have not yet reported flood damage claims to the state should do so immediately in order to qualify for disaster relief, a spokesman for the Department of Agriculture said this week. According to Stephen T. Gillmor, Commissioner, farmers living in the counties of Salt Lake, Utah, Tooele, Cache, Box Elder, Willard and Sanpete, who suffered damage in the recent rain should report all losses to their County Emergency Board. Those boards consist of the directors of the ASCS (Agricultural SALT County farmers Stabilization and Conservation Service), FHA (Farmers Home Administration), SCS District Conservationist and Extension County Agents. The County Emergency Boards will then report the assesment of damage to Governor Matheson for his review to determine if a statewide request to President Reagan is needed for disaster relief. if the state Gillmore says, receives a disaster declaration, have documented who farmers losses then become eligible for low interest loans.
