Show r fk f - Page Two Sanpete December Shopper State buys land for wildlife A recent - land acquisition by the Utah State Division of Wildlife of Resources east Henefer in Summit County will provide wildlife with critical habitat needs and will make available to hunters the biggest parcel of public hunting ground in the Morgan-Henefe- area. r The purchase of two parcels of land totaling 6,258 acres on the R Ranch (later known as Eagle Ranch) adjoins 3,939 acres already owned by the Division of Wildlife Resources. Federal Aid monies and mitigation funds from the Bureau of Reclamation for habitat lost during of the construction Stateline Reservoir will fund a major portion of the land acquisition. A parcel was acquired at a cost of $1,880,340. Of this amount, of the Bureau Reclamation has paid $725,000 in mitigation. The other 1,251 acres were purchased at a cost 5,006-acr- e of $655,836. Three-fourth- s of money paid by the Division for both parcels of land will be reimbursed by federal aid. Don Christensen, Division wildlife habitat acquisition specialist, said the Division will pay for the land on a contract over a period of years.
