THE WEBER game had been moved up to Thursday in anticipation that Layton might win. Such a thing would have forced the two teams to go at it again last Monday to decide the fourth place team from Region One. But two first half touchdowns by Weber were the difference as Weber held back a strong second half comeback by the Lancers to earn d the glorious right to play Davis High in the first playoff round. AGAIN LAYTON rose up in their next defensive series and allowed Weber a negative yard rushing before have Miya dove through the air to block a Weber punt. The blocked punt resulted in a safety and Weber's lead had been trimmed to Layton's next drive went 13 plays before Weber finally forced Bankhead out again. He booted a 25 yard field goal that made the score Layton has reached the four yard line but could not score. AS FAR as Layton's play went, you couldn't fault anything the Lancers did in the second half. The Layton defense held Weber to a mere three first downs and provided the most excitement in scoring opportunities. After Layton's first second half drive was halted with a punt, Brian Bailey put an end to Weber's first second half possession by intercepting a pass. One play later on offense, Bailey connected with THE LANCERS never gave up in the final six minutes of the game. Again the defense held Weber and forced them to punt. Bailey connected with Martin again on a beautiful pass play that took Layton into Webers territory. But an interception on a low throw from Bailey snufled out the comeback. But again the Layton defense held Weber and forced still another punt. 1 top-rate- maybe Roberts wasnt our best!
