Mr. and Mrs. Harley Christensen returned from vacationing a few days at Flaming Gorge Dam. They were met by her brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Lenon of Brea, Calif. Mrs. Ursula i? v Slocks, Mrs. Norene Hill and Mrs. Kris Dietrich returned from Las Vegas, Nev. where they attended the hair world 84 convention for five days. They were among the 80,000 beauticians in attendance at the convention held at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Mr. and Mrs. Charley Dredge - and family attended the W.R. ELDER ATOR RICHARD D. READ Clark Brenton (Brent) Ator of Farmington, has been called to the Peru Lima South Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. He will enter the MTC on Oct. II. Elder Richard D. Read has been called to serve in the Florida-Tamp- a LDS Mission. He will speak at the Kaysville 10th Ward Sacrament meeting on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 10:45 a.m. The chapel is at 1039 E. Crestwood Rd. HIS FAREWELL will be held on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 4:20 p.m. in the Farmington Rock Chapel, 300 North Main Street, the Farmington 13th Ward. Brent is the son of Bradford and Gloria Ator. He graduated from Davis High School and the Kaysville Seminary in 1983. He is an Eagle Scout and attended BYU for one year. AN OPEN house will be held on Sunday, Sept. 30 from 8 p.m. at W. 300 S., Farming-tohis home, 6-- 1 1 n. kj ELDER READ is the son of Lewis and Virginia Read of 871 E. Oxford Dr. He is a graduate of Davis High and Seminary and has been attending Brigham Young University for the past year. He is an Eagle Scout and has been em- ployed at Mountainwest Landscaping. He will enter the Mission Training Center on Oct. II. A group of seven close friends all from this ward, will enter the mission field very soon and will be honored at an open house to be held at the Crestwood cultural hall on Oct. 3 from p.m. This group in addition to Elder Read includes Elder Jeran Page, Elder Dan Edvalson, Elder Scott Argyle, Elder David Beck, Elder Chad 7-- 9 Hawkes and Elder Darin Anderson. THE FAMILY and friends of these seven young men are invited to visit with them at the open house. Dredge Family Reunion held on Saturday at the summer home of Dr. and Mrs. Tom Bauman in Midway. Mrs. Bauman is a sister of Mr. Dredge. Sixty descendants attended. Mrs. Wilma Bloxham is confined to the McKay-De- e Hospital in Ogden where she underwent major surgery last week. Mrs. Helen Scheurer was a guest at dinner for her birthday anniversary hosted by her son and his family, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Scheurer of Salt Lake City held at the Red Flame Restaurant in Bountiful on Saturday. LaMar and Dixie Yotter of s Edmonds, Wash, were for one week of her sister, Mrs. Clover Sanders. Their other sister, Mrs. Ruth Bailey of Salt Lake City spent the week in Kaysville with them, as a family house-guest- er and houseguest. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Sheffield and son Jared of Brea, Calif, visited with his mother. Mrs. Edith LWML Rummage And Bake Sale Set For Oct. 6 The LWML Rummage and Bake Sale will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church at 385 W. Golden Ave., Layton on Saturday, Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Burton Winters, Named Elder Allen Stenquist, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leiand Stenquist has been called to serve an LDS mission to the New Mission. He will enter the MTC on York-Rochest- er Oct. II. ; ELDER STENQUISTS farewell was held on Sunday, Sept. 23 in the Kaysville 16th Ward. He has been employed in Cali-- : fornia and just returned home in time for his farewell. HE GRADUATED from Davis High where he was a member of the soccer team that took state championship. He has been active in his church activities of his ward. He is recipient of the Duty to God award. Elder Stenquist attended Westminster College in Salt Lake City ' for one year, before leaving for California where he was employed ' the past eight months at Half Moon Bay. np : teachers with 1,000 students enrol- led in the program. Mr. Winters said they are also the administrative staff over the Kaysville South Seminary (9th grade) and the Farmington Junior High Seminary, bringing the total to 1 ,460 students in all. MR. WINTERS has been involved in church work all his life, having served in various positions on both Ward and Stake level, as well as bishop of the Kaysville 8th Ward for eight years, counselor in two bishoprics, member of the high council of the Kaysville East Stake and is currently the patriarch of the ELDER Beesley is the sqn of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Beesley, 1797 N. Highway 89, Layton, and a member of the Layton 3rd Ward. He spoke Sept. 23 and will enter the MTC on Oct. 18. Kaysville East Stake, a position he has held the past 5 'A years. He and his wife, the former Joyce Adams of Salt Lake City, have just been invited to be members of the LDS Tabernacle Choir in Salt Lake City. They have two married children, Steven and Mrs. Christine Hatch, both of Provo; the other four are Mark, San Jose, Calif.; David, serving a mission to Equador; Alan, a senior at Davis High and Jennifer, a student at Kaysville Junior High, 9th grade. AFTER graduating from Layton High School he was employed as a tile setter in the local area for almost a year. MR. WINTERS is looking forward to a marvelous experience working with the youth. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Duckworth, Mr. and Mrs. Don T. Edwards returned home from vacationing in MR. WINTERS has taught in rious areas of the LDS Church Institute of Religion since first beginning his career as a teacher. His first assignment was in Arco, ' Ida", later moving to Kaysville in 1961. He has been involved with the Kaysville LDS Seminary program since, with the exception of four years spent in Mesa, Ariz. and the Institute program there. THERE IS a staff of eight ment. Kevin Brough and his friend, Mark Peterson vacationed for three weeks in the Eastern States. They visited Kevin's two sisters and families, Bryan and Kathy Harvey at Rochester, New York and Randy and Sheri Farr of Chelmsford, Mass. They enjoyed visiting many of the New England States as well and also LDS Church historic places en route. Mrs. Fern Heath has been confined to the Humana Davis North Hospital where she was undergoing treatment.. Derek Peterson, son of Mrs. Ardell Peterson and Mark Pehr-soson of Bishop and Mrs. Gary Pehrson have returned home after spending the summer months in Hawaii on the island of Maui picking pineapple as a summer job. Bishop and Mrs. Harold Smuin have her mother, Mrs. Carma Case of West Valley City making her home with them. Mrs. Case is 80 years old. They also have an Indian daughter Michelle Unitillie of Gallop, New Mexico living with them. Michelle is 13 years old and a student at Kaysville Junior High. Mrs. Carmen Fisher and Mrs. Bernice Galbraith who are executive officers of the State Utah Association of Women will be guest speakers at the Box Elder and Logan Region meetings of the Association to be held Sept. 29 at Taggart Hall, Utah State University campus in Logan. Mr. and Mrs. Linn Sandall F. Burton Winters of Kaysville has been appointed principal of Kaysville LDS Seminary. HE WAS born and reared in Afton, Wyo. and received his B.S. and masters degree from Brigham Young University. He is the seventh person to serve as principal of the Kaysville LDS Seminary. It is one of the oldest seminary programs in the church and was organized in 1919 with George C. Ensign being its first principal. He served until 1953. Other Principals have been Kenneth H. Sheffield, Vern R. Butcher, Max Hirschi, Ronald Zollinger and now Mr. Winters, who was appointed at the beginning of this school year. F. Burton and Joyce Winters have been invited to join the LDS Tabernacle Choir in Salt Lake City as members. They met Sunday morning for their first broadcast with the choir. Mrs. Lorraine ScofTield fell and broke her hip and wrist. She is confined to the Humana Davis North Hospital for surgery and treat- turned from a trip to Albuquerque, New Mexico where they visited with their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Sandall. They were on hand to hear their grandson Elder Curtis Sandall give his mission report. He served in the Dominican Kays. Seminary Principal ELDER STENQUIST Sheffield and also with Mr. and Mrs. George Sheffield and family and other relatives in the area. Ll. Col. (Kel) and Mis. Jay Fisher vacationed in Boise, Ida. with an aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Talley and then drove on to Oregon to visit with their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Randy Fisher at Hillsboro. Randy and family joined them for a trip on to Washington and Oregon visiting the Olympia National Forest, Port Angeles, Mount St.' Helens, and places of interest from Washington down the coast highway to Oregon and California returning to Utah after a 10 day trip. St. George. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Heaps hosted a family reunion at their summer cabin at Meadow View Ranch in the Uintas on Monday for 35 guests, the descendants of and Martha Rogerson. Recent houseguests of Mr. and Mrs. Casper G. Carroll were Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Wirtz of Fulton, Calif. Mr. Carroll and Mr. Wirtz were World War II buddies in the U.S. Army. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Tice spent last week vacationing in Star Valley. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Laser and daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Willis and daughter Jessica of Logan and son Curtis Laser of West Valley City vacationed at Pelican Lake, Wise, at their summer home for two weeks. Ted Laser and son Curtis drove and later Mrs. Laser and daughter and family flew and joined them for the vacation time together. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hansen of Tabiona, Utah have been staying with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Kneedy for several weeks during the summer months. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Hilton and family of Glendale, Ariz. arrived to visit with her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Clark and family. They came to attend his brother's mis- Mil-to- n F. The Church Education program is to assist the home in moral and spiritual education of the church youth program through a program of weekday religious instruction, and to train the youth in the use of the scriptures. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Buhler and daughter Lynzee, Mr. and Mrs. Don Buhler, all of West Valley City were Sunday dinner guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell W. Buhler. Cornell Jarman of Berkley, is in Fruit Heights. Construction began on Sept. 4 and completion date is set for July I 1985. IT IS located on the Alan Manbeing-bui- lt ning property, east of the Mountain Highway located north of the Myron Manning residence. The new center will house the Fruit Heights 3rd and 4th LDS Wards and be a stake center for that area. CONTRACTOR for the project is John DeYoung and Gordon Gygie is the architect. It will be a brick building following the Cody Plan, np Calif, recently visited with Mr. and Mrs. E. Van Sanders and other relatives in the area. They came for a family wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Blamires enjoyed a vacation trip to the Teton and Yellowstone National Parks and visited with her brother and family, Mr, and Mrs. Kenneth ONeil in Pocatello, Ida. and spent time in Idaho Falls, Ida. Mr. and Mrs. George Sheffield entertained at a family patio dinner at their home. Guests included her two brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Madsen of Lehi; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Madsen, Payson and her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Mark DeMill of Sandy and their families. Also her mother Mrs. Helen Madsen, Spring City, Utah; and their daughter and her family, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Merrill of Kaysville. Mr. and Mrs. Casper G. Carroll were guests at dinner in Salt Lake City at the Hotel Utah Roof Gardens on Tuesday of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Real of Madison, Wise, who are in Salt Lake City to attend the J.C. Penney Convention. Mr. and Mrs. F. Burton Winters and son Alan and daughter Jennifer were guests in Provo on Saturday where they attended the football game and were guests of their children, Mr. and BYU-Tuls- a Mrs. Kent Hatch and Mr. and Mrs. Steven Winters. . Thirty women of the Fruit Heights 4th LDS Ward Relief Society enjoyed an overnight stay at Afton Grove in Provo Canyon. Mrs. Norma Barlow, Relief Society president was in charge of the Elder Daniel B. Edvalson has been called to serve an LDS mission to the Oaklahoma, Tulsa Mission. He will enter the MTC on Oct. 4. Elder Edvalsens farewell testimonial was held Sunday, Sept. 16 in the Kaysville 10th LDS Ward Chapel. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Ronald Edvalson of 858 Oxford Dr. Judge and Mrs. Thornley K. Swan hosted a traditional family reunion and Show-d- o at their Rafter S. Ranch at the Head of Beaver over the Labor holiday weekend. Guests included the families of Mr. and Mrs. Swan and his brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Swan of Rogerson, Ida.; Mr. and Mrs. Whitlock Swan of Oregon and the Glen and their families. Cun-dal- Announcing the arrival of a baby daughter are Mr. and Mrs. Keith Jensen. She arrived on Aug. 28 at the Humana Davis North Hospital weighing 6 lb. 4 oz. and will be Meishi Kim. Guests included Bishop and Mrs. Jerry TimBer-ret- t, with her mother Mrs. Helen Madsen. Elder Alan Clark has accepted a mission call to the California, San Jose Spanish speaking LDS mission. He is the son of Ronald and Diane Clark and a member of the Fruit Heights 4th LDS Ward. He will enter the MTC on Oct. 18. Mrs. Dorothy Tice attended the annual meeting of the Utah Quilt Guild held Sept. 21 and 22 at the Woods Cross High School. Special guests were Blanch Young and daughter Helen Young Frost. They are the authors bf four quilt books and also taught sewing in the California public schools. Dinnerguests Wednesday of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Heaps were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Nielsen and son Darin Nielsen of Malta, Ida. Darin will be entering the MTC prior to serving an LDS mission to Bolivia. The Kaysville 2nd Ward Relief Society has scheduled Oct. 10 for a special opening social. The theme is Excellence in Women and guest speaker will be Beatrice Potter of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Kathy Timothy will give a spotlight biography of Ms. Potter. Musical numbers will be given by Jane Dunford, Willy Dunford and Liz Dunford. A dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. followed by the program. Ivan Richardson has been confined to the McKay-De- e Hospital the past week undergoing treatment. Mr. and Mrs. David Scheurer and two sons entertained at a family dinner in honor of his mother Mrs. Helen V. Scheurer on her birthday anniversary last week. Bryan Rogerson who has been confined to the hospital undergoing treatment is now at home convalescing. Davis County Mental Health is offering a course in Assertiveness Training designed especially to meet the needs of youth between the ages of 12 and 17. Emphasis will be given to gaining feelings of, and self-respe- ct self-contro- l: through instruction in the non-- : agressive expression of thoughts.:; feelings and ideas in a direct andj open way. :: ASSERTIVENESS Training is an educational class that helps youth to identify the differ- - i ence between passive, aggressive, ; and assertive behavior, and pro-- : vides discussion and practice in ' specific areas such as increasing j ' communication with parents, handling peer press-- 1 ure, making and refusing requests. ; coping with criticism, developing eight-wee- k , skills--especia!- ly : self-estee- expressing positive and negative emotions, and giving and receiving compliments. The class will be instructed by Connie Chatlin on Tuesday evenings from p.m. beginning Oct. 2. and will meet at the Davis County Mental Health Center in Bountiful. 470 E. Medical Drive. Mrs. Janie Heaps returned from San Francisco, Calif, where she spfent a week with her daughter and family, Dr. and Mrs. Carey Noorda and welcomed a new granddaughter Cami Marie who was born Sept. 7 weighing 8 lb. 4 oz. At home are two children, Bryan and Stacie. Jr . Mrs. Noorda was the former Cynthia Heaps of Kaysville. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Leon Heaps of Kaysville; Dr. and Mrs. Norman Noorda, Las Vegas, RYAN BUNTING Nev. Dr. and Mrs. Nohl Sandall and family of Afton, Wyo. were visitors of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Linn Sandall. Mr. and Mrs. Linn Sandall spent Tuesday in Provo visiting with Professor and Mrs. Wilford Tolman and family. Mrs. Alice Allen was injured in an automobile accident Tuesday evening, Sept. 18 in Kaysville at an intersection. She was confined to the Lakeview Hospital for treatment and later released. Ryan Bunting County one-year-ol- is North our this d, week. The son of SftG Michael and Donnell Bunting of Layton, now stationed in Germany. He celebrated Sept. 15. Kaysville Police Seek Heljp Kaysville City Police made several arrests last week of people stealing donated items at the collection building and area in Kaysville. THE COLLECTION building is sometimes overflowing and therefore items are placed in front of the building on the Deseret Industries property. It has become the practice of people to steal these items for resell at swap meets or garage sales. The police are asking the citizens of Kaysville to assist them in curbing this practice of stealing, by reporting anyone they see involved in taking items from the area.
